Easter isnt easter anymore???

When i was little easter was one of my favourite holidays because the shopping isles would be full of different kind of chocolate eggs, toy eggs, just more eggs and bunnies..
Now i only see one or two brands making chocolate eggs and its a bit empty.

I dont know about where you guys are, but here it doesnt feel like easter anymore...

Does age have something to do with it?

Movin' on up!
I bought chocolate bunnies, for the twins and I'm going to get my annual stash of Cadbury Chocolate Creme eggs.

I was out at the local store "Giant Tiger" this afternoon and the ailses were full of chocolate eggs and bunnies. I think it really depends on where you are. I have also seen an increase this year in the amount of people decorating the yard.

Where are you shopping? I bought Easter candy last week, and had a hard time choosing, because there was so much variety. I even found some marzipan hens and chicks (at Metromarkt) that I haven't seen since I was teenager (decades ago). Today we polished off some little "Mars Bars" Easter eggs that I was supposed to be saving for next Sunday.

No, not yet. It's on the 16th

I think it has to do with age and all this stupid commercialism of it. Easter, for Christians, is supposed to be a holy, celebrated day. Don't get me wrong - I'm all for the Easter eggs and chocolate bunnies and Easter baskets. But to me that isn't all that it is.... I also think that if you have kids, you get to re-live the magic and it'll come back to you. But since you don't do those Easter egg hunts, or get baskets etc., it loses it's 'magic' and excitement I guess....

There are lots of choices here, too! Maybe you can complain to the store managers, Fran. Let them know that people still do want Easter items, but need more choices!

Like LoveAllCats, my family celebrates the religious holiday, as well as buying lots of jellybeans and eggs.

Did anyone else see the Wonka Eggs? They are plastic eggs, but some of them have double stick tape and clips on them, so they are "gravity free", meaning you can hide them on the ceiling!!!!

I didn't buy any, but you can bet I'll be taping some eggs up high this year!!!

I was thinking about the same exact thing today whilst sitting in Church. For me, I think it is because my kids are grown and my grand kids are so far away. My favorite Easter goodie though, is the Reese's peanut butter eggs. So yummy!

When I was a kid, we used to go to my paternal grand parents home on easter for easter soup. All Aunts, Uncles, Cousins etc. were there. Easter soup is a recipe my grandmother's family brought with them from Poland. The base is made with mustard, cream and horse radish. You cut up hard boiled eggs, bread, and polish sausage then pour the base over it. The men would all compete on who could tolerate putting the most horse radish in it.
Pretty silly but such nice memories.

Mine, too !!
I just bought two packs from Target--white chocolate and milk chocolate!! I think I may like Reese's Eggs better than a regular Reese's Cup!

Come on over to Michigan! We've had the Easter stuff since Valentine's Day (Feb 14)! After Easter is done with, they'll most likely put up the Memorial Day stuff.
