i have a 6 week old kitten and today it has been sick. I have also noticed it walking funny. It has been drinking lots which is unusaual for him. Does anyone know if there is something wrong with him.

how do you mean 'has been sick'? throwing up? Is this 6 week old kitten still with its mother or are you bottle feeding it?
drinking lots is not a bad thing - what is he drinking? are you able to get this little one to the vet if your concerned? kittens can go downhill very quickly if they are ill

okay you need to give this kitten something other than water. It is too young and needs some help by you. what are you feeding him?
here is a link to a great site by one of our members - please have a look around this site as this kitten is very young to have been taken away from his mother

you need to get this little one to a vet - as I said previously, kittens of this age can go downhill very quickly. You need to ensure that he is eating good quality wet kitten food.

I agree, you really need to get this kitten to a vet. Kittens dehydrate very quickly. Is there an emergency vet in your area?

I am going to move this to the Pregnant Cat & Kittens forum. Some of our members are quite experienced with very young kittens and may be able to give you more advice.

Chloe...welcome to TCS....I know you stated you received this kitten from a friend...you may want to inform your friend that it is normally not a good idea to seperate a kitten from it's mom at 6 weeks of age...unless this kitten was found as an orphan, it is best to keep kittens with their mother until they are around 8/10/12 weeks of age. Just some information to share. BTW..was the mom of your kitten your friend's cat?? If so, it would be a wonderful thing if she could get this cat spayed.

If your friend still has the mother, and it is still nursing, I would strongly recommend giving the kitten back to the mother for another 2 weeks (once it's taken care of by the vet).

You'll end up with not only a healther kitten, but a much more playful, happier and well-adjusted one.
