I know. Skittles is being more affectionate lately adn I don't want her to attack me even if in play, but it is a price we pay for our babies.

My cats very seldom scratch. Of course Molly can't scratch, as she was declawed before we got her. She did bite me the other night when I tried to put her out and she didn't want to go.

From my 7 cats I usually get at least one scratch from each of them a month, normally from enthusiastic play or when they leap onto my lap and need to steady themselves

I get MUCH less scratches now that most of our cats are declawed (all but three) in the front. However, I still get them! Whoever says they loose a weapon by declawing is only half correct. Cats learn to make their back claws JUST as lethal...our tortishell is a pro with'em.

Before we got our other cats declawed, when I was little, I was a MESS. I'd have scratches all over my face and hands and arms and legs. Did I care? HECK NO. I'm proud of every scratch I get, and always have been. I have two long scars on my left arm where my cat, Moose (RIP) got me twice (two different occasions, but for the same reason and in the same place in the same room!) when he got spooked by something. They've been there for about 7 or so years. I lov'em, though! I also have a nasty scar on my thigh where Benny had used me as a launching ramp when he was jumping into the laundry room (where the litter boxes/cat food is...we have to have it blocked off so the nasty dogs don't think the litter is their private cafeteria). It's been there for about 6 months or so, and it's still red. Granted, I had picked at it, but that's because I can't stand scabs...I like scars...not scabs.

edited several times because it's past midnight and I made millions of spelling mistakes...*yawn*

Oh man when I worked at the animal protective league I would come home covered scratches! I have scars all over my arms from cat scratches and bites hehe.

Now I only get scratched when my one cat Kinks decides catapault herself off my lap as she flies across the room. We have a very hard time clipping her claws, she absolutely hates it.

AND my other cat Da-Ku because EVERYTHING scares the crap out of him so I could be holding him and he is purring and falling asleep, then, you know, I stand up and he tears out of my arms to go hide from the evil thing that is after him. When I was laying in bed with him earlier, I moved my leg 3 inches away from him and he bolted away. Literally every little thing makes him take off. But then he usually comes right back, looking all ashamed and embarassed.

But ya that is the only time I get scratched now.

I replied to the least numbers, but actually I don't get scratched even that often. I would say that once a year is my average.

Its usually Jaz who gives me a scratch on occasion. She never means to, but she does have a habit of pawing my arm in bed so that she can snuggle up closer

I cant really get cross with her over that, its so cute

Kaylee never sticks her nails out.

Hmm~my cats arent big scratchers usually, unless ya count the furniture!
No but I woud say that normally they dont scratch unless they are *pawing* on me, or just trying to be silly, and play.
I cant really count though on how often it happens.....

Stinky is the only cat that's not declawed, and he only scratches when you do stuff that he doesn't like.. like rubbing his belly..

One of my boys thinks my leg is a scratching post sometimes. And Stinker will only take so much petting before she starts to scratch and bite.

I get a lot from Rocky. Cookie never claws!! Rocky sometimes claws my legs when I put him on my lap and try to sponge some of his snot out. He also likes to jump up on your leg and meow pitifully while clawing you. I got some on my stomach (a first) b/c I thought it would be a good idea to put him in his carrier feet first on the way to the vet last week. Duh, when I put him down he just got in on his own, got confused between cats! Sometimes I pet him and he is into it and then he decides he isn't...

I think we all find that cats have there mood swings like humans.
