I am so sorry to hear that baby #1 hasn't made it, how is mom doing? Are there more babies coming? I read back in the posts and it seems she had another week to go? Prayers to you and the little ones!

Open his mouth gently and see if something is obstructing his throat. Check his nostrils to see if they are plugged. Not sure how long ago you posted this, so it may be to late. I am sorry you lost a kitten, but it does happen.

Yes she's not due until the 14th! I could have had my dates wrong though.
No more babies right now.

I hope you have your dates wrong! My cat just had kittens it was quite an ordeal for me, my queen, and quite a few people here who had been following the thread. I wont get into the details but she had one still born and nothing else for a day and a half. If you would like to read about it, it is the thread tittled "labor" started by me, celestialrags.
I wish you luck and hope the rest goes smoothly for you and mommy.

I am sorry you lost a kitten, that is so sad. Did the kitten appear to be a preemie? (ie- very small body size, wrinkled skin, sparse or no fur on the chest, abdomen, legs or over the whole body)

That could give you a better idea of whether or not you have the dates wrong.

Still no more kittens. I'm wondering if there are even anymore in there. I can't feel any movement, & she looks significantly thinner since the kitten this afternoon.
Is it even possible for a cat to have only one kitten?

I thought I would answer that one..yes there is a possibility..
I knew Squiggles was pregnant, but never felt movement, etc.
And out came one baby..
If you felt alot, etc, like others have on here, then I would suspect more..
But it definitly is possible, and not knowing is harmful to her, and stressful for you.
I would take her to the vets just incase, and they can feel her tummy, or do an xray for 25 dollars, which is a cheap way to ease your mind, and keep her healthy..

Thank you! Your girl did only have one single kitten? Last week I was feeling a lot of movement, I thought for sure there was at least 3. Thanks for the tip, though, I'm going to call my vet & ask how much x-rays are.

ya only one little boy...he is about to be 5wks now, so I went through this recently..
Specially if the baby you lost was developed (and I am sorry for your loss)
an xray should be good..Its cheap, plus it just shows bone structures, which would work now..
I think when they are newly pregnant the bones arent developed enough to show up.
It will drive you crazy thinking there still might be more in there, so I do recommend it. Did you see the placenta come out as well? because that is important as far as infection goes...
But if she is calm, content, doesnt feel hot, and eating and drinking, I would say maybe call the vet, and see what they say, even if its Monday morning first thing..

If you suspect anything I would rush her in though, But I would get her checked, just so you know if theres more, and if there will be another onset of labor..I waited about 36 hours I think till I finally freaked out and took her. She was fine, but she kept on walking and not staying with the baby. But they did tell me when I got there since I waited so long, they might be dead..So go with your instinct. Luckily my baby was just constipated, and thats why she kept walking..

But like you, I thought 1 kitten was impossible

Yes, the placenta came out along with the babe. She is still acting very amorous, & running back and forth from my lap to her box, & meowing & purring, because of this, I have a feeling there's still a couple more to come. I'm going to call the vet's office in the morning. I hope they're open on Sundays! Thanks so much for the help.
I'll post again in a little while & update!
Thanks again everyone

I would try to call them and see if there is a 24 hour number to call..Advice over the phone couldnt hurt, really...
Theres been many people on here who needed to take their cats in for a shot, which induces labor, and makes the kittens come..And from what I have heard, thats even cheaper then the xray..
If you really thought there was more I suggest you do something, if you wait to long the others will die, and theres a risk of infection for momma too..
Specially if she is moving about that much...
Difference between you and me is, you felt like there was atleast 3, I thought I was going crazy, and that she just had big nipples..
So now hearing this, I am alil more worried..Please let us know

In Ca there is always a vet somewhere. Maybe one can just talk to you over the phone to see if there is more there. It has been many hrs since the first baby. A vet should be notified.
