Ok you raw feeders out there. I have been doing some research. and after long talks with my vet, and a reading we have decided the best next shot we have for Maia, my IBD girl is to try her on raw. Now i am not yet up to making my own. Time and my dislike of handleing "icky stuff" being one reason. And I am going to do a TON more research before i make my own.

So in the meantime i have been looking at premade raw.

Localy i have found most readibly offered is Natures Variety, we do have Steves real food as well but IMO natures varity seems to be the better of the two?

I picked up a bag today to try. I dont know if i can even get her to eat it, as she is a kibble only kinda girl. but its worth a shot..

I've never used the raw with my cat, but I have him on Nature's Variety Beef and Barley Medley (which they are discontinuing, in favor of a Salmon kibble) and on the canned variety's of Nature's Variety as well. Other canned food he gets is Wellness and Merrick and he does really well on all these. If your kitty doesn't want to do raw I'd definately check out their kibble- it's been four paws up here!

Thank you. I have been looking at their dry kibble as well. and talked with my vet about it to. And if she wont eat the raw, we are gonna go that way as well. My other plan as well, is once we get her a little mroe stable with her IBD will be to mix the two. and it seems natures also agrees with that theory.

we will be mixing her current kibble with the raw over the next few weeks of course.

Mine wouldnt touch the Natures Prairie ... Try to get a raw that is not complicated... Example the most complicated mine get is chn with organs and five veggies ... the two you mention I prefer Steves...

As a whole I am not a fan of Nature prairie dry or raw ... too $$ ( 3lbs of nature variety is 11-13 $ while 2lbs of columbiariver is 5on ave and 5lbs of Omas Pride is 7 ish) and too complicated ...

neither one of the two you posted are offered locally for me. Which is something i am requireing.(after the debocal of getting frozen dog food to me i refuse to ship frozen products anymore and from look of it columbia river doesnt offer shipping) the steves turns out the shops they had listed that carried it no longer do. they only carry the freeze dried. I may see if i can get it through work.

She however did eat the small portion of the Natures Variety I offered to her. which for Maia even getting her to eat it is half the battle.

I just wanted to say, I did try the Nature's Variety RAW and firstly, it smells HORRIBLE. But I ignored the smell and put my cat on the Venison diet [which happens to be made of mostly Lamb. My cat was doing well on it for a while, but he started throwing it up, and even just taking a bite of it would make him sick. It did fine with his food allergies all the same, I think he just got mental over it. :p

I just put my pet on Pets 4 Life raw frozen food.

So far she likes it. You may want to try that food. I putting her on it because of a twitching problem which we believe may be related to allergies to food. we also have her on Solid Gold dry food.
