How long can a normal pregnancy go?

Hello;
I've just found this site while running a search on pregnant cats overdue. I'm not quite certain on the last date that my cat got outside while in heat. I'm 99% sure that it was prior to 2-9-06. For some reason the end of January keeps popping into my head though.
She got out the door so fast I couldn't believe it. I was planning on taking her in to be fixed when we got our income taxes and still plan to, but now I have to worry about how long do I have to wait after the kittens are born before she can go in? Either way, I'm thinking that she is either overdue or due anyday now. Which brings me to my main question...What is the longest that they can go during a normal pregnancy? I'm thinking at the longest that I would want to wait for delivery would be another wk.
'Kassie' has always been a petite girl. I didn't really notice her tummy getting larger until a couple wks ago. She is the first female cat we've had. Our big guy 'Simba' was fixed yrs ago. Never having a female before this, I had no idea that they would try so hard to get out when in heat. Not to mention the noise they made! Oh my, I thought something was wrong with her!

Between her and my 'human' daughter both being pregnant for the first time; this newbie 1st time gramma is getting nervous for both of them! LOL

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you;
Tina

Welcome to TCS....Unfortunately I do not know the longest that a cat has gone but this is what is said regarding the traditional time:

a queen's gestation period typically runs from 57 to 69 days, with the average of 63 to 64 days

So your cat is still within those dates. The link below has very good information regarding caring for a pregnant cat:

http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74659

Also...given that your cat has "escaped" in the past, you may want to set her up in a room that is secure so that she will not be able to get to an outside door. She needs to remain indoors only until the kittens are weaned and she can be spayed. Cats can get pregnant again as early as a week after giving birth as they are induced ovulators (meaning..they do not need to be in heat to get pregnant).

Thanks for the info...the calendar was a good help! According to the calendar, the far end is 70 days. Since I'm unsure of her date, mid-wk next wk would be about the limit. She's been fairly restless in her sleep the last few days. Rolling over alot trying to get comfortable and kinda like moaning a bit when she does. Kinda like when we stretch out and moan.
Every night I keep thinking that this is the night, then nothing. She is eating normally too. I've read comments that people have made of seeing and feeling the fetal movements. I've tried feeling her belly for it and the most I've ever felt was maybe a faint lil tap on a finger and it was only to one side of her tummy. I never felt it when holding the other side. Should there be more noticeable movements felt? Or am I just being an overly protective, worried mama?

Thanks again for the help!

Probably. *grin*

Each cat is different just as each pregnancy is different just as each delivery is different. Some kittens move around a lot, others are lazy. I will sometimes tap my finger lightly on my girl's side and wait a few moments. Sure enough, someone in there usually taps back eventually. *smile*

Oh, BTW...thanks for the links to the low cost or free spay/neuter programs as well Katie. I found one that I will be calling and getting information for on Monday. It was the only one that was relatively close that did not state that it was for low income only, so hopefully it will be reasonable.
Thanks;
Tina

That sounds like a good idea... I'll try that and see if I get a response. When I poke at my daughters' belly I get a big hit back!

I didn't even think about that with Kassie. I usually just lay my hand on her.
