At lunch today I went to visit the local pets store to get litter and food for the furry kids.
I see this van pulling out of a parking space, so I turned down that lane thinking I was the only one. When she finished moving, I noticed there was another car on the other side. She didn't have her turn signal on, so I just assumed that she was going straight.
I turn on my turn signal and as I begin to pull into the spot, the other driver begins to wave her hands, as in "what are you doing". So I pulled out and start mouthing at her "TURN SIGNAL????"
So I begin to pull forward, she rolls down her window and I did mind (I was
at this point) and she says "Never mind you can have the spot". I was so peeved at her I harshly told her "Then use your tun signal then. I have no way of knowing that you wanted the spot if you don't use your turn signal". So she just drove off.

It took me a minute to get out of the car. I've noticed that its an issue in the area where I work (but where I live, only 15 minutes away it's a completely different culture). I know that you can get fined for not using a turn signal in Michigan, but its just not enforced...at least near work.

At 28 am I just behind the times? Do you use your turn signals or are they now a neat little feature on cars?

I'd have told her she had a nice car, and asked how much extra the turn signal option was.

Seriously, turn signals are there for a reason.

You're not behind the times, you just belong to that rare (almost endangered) species of polite drivers.

I know! Like I said, the people that are in this area where i work are totally clueless that turn signals exist. I'll go out to lunch and see a line of cars in the left turn lane...and I'll be the only driver with their turn signal on.

My uncle has 2 great bumper stickers: "Visualize Using Your Blinkers" and "Blinkers: You've Got 'Em, Use 'Em". People not using their blinkers is one of my top 3 biggest pet peeves!

I use my turn signal on all roads, I do admit to being a bit lazy from time to time in parking lots

I put only on main roads but that equates to basically anywhere that isn't my apartment complex or if I'm the only one on a road then I won't use them. Otherwise I will. I hate it in the parking lots too. One time I was waiting for someone to pull out (busy parking lot) and it was at the end of the line and the person sort of scooted in from the side!??! So they beat me to it because they were pulling sort of sideways in to get there...ugh I was the one waiting for it. It was very rude.

Don't get me going on turn signals! You know the other time, when I have a real issue about turn signals? When it begins flashing as the vehicle finishes pulling into my lane. Ummmm...sorry fella, the signal isn't to let me know what you did, but what you hope to do -- and to give both of us a chance to make sure it is safe to do so. A turn signal unseen, may as well not have been given.

I use mine pretty religiously, the only exception being when there simply aren't any other vehicles around to see a signal. If there's anyone around who might have the remotest interest in what my vehicle is about to do, I signal. In mostly city driving, that's pretty much all the time.

Make me sooo angry when people do not use them!!
People here in my school town NEVER do! Like has already been said, it makes me so mad when I am waiting to turn out but someone is coming, then as they turn into your street they put their blinker on, like it does any good at that point!!

I am very good about using my blinkers (and seatbelt). One time I was just taking a sharp curve, and without thinking about it, turned on my blinker!

Always, always, always! My friend who lives in the country always made fun of me because I would always use my turn signal to turn into her driveway. There wasn't anyone on the road for literally miles, and seriously...everyone who lived in the area knew I was going to turn there.
It is such a habit with me, though, I don't even think about it - I just do it.

Not using the turn signal is a HUGE pet peeve of mine too. That and leaving it on for miles and miles going down the road. I actually do pay attention and try to give a person turning leeway...don't fake me out like that!

I generally just use mine on the road. Perhaps this is one of my rebellion things I should put in Ryan's thread. After reading this, though, I suppose I should do a better job of using them more consistently.

I didn't know it was optional
Very annoying when people don't. And dangerous when they leave them on. I always er on the side on caution when I see someone coming with their indicator flashing - I wait till they actually slow down rather than assume they're going to turn.
At this point I will conveniently neglect to mention that I drove our last car for 6 months with no indicators.
I had two routes figured out to and from work so I could mostly make right turns, which I thought wasn't so bad to not signal.

Use mine all the time. And when they didn't work one winter, I would roll my window down (brrrrr
) and use hand signals.

I don't know how many times I have been tempted to call the local police force and tell them to have the mechanics check the blinkers on patrol cars because the cop in front of me didn't use his!
Just being a concerned citizen...
