is there a way of changing the way the date is viewed for individual members? It drives me crazy reading the date written the US way.

I hunch not, Dan. It drives me bananas, too, and it's one of the first things I look for in options or preferences or whatever a particular piece of software calls them -- and I didn't find it in vB.

If it's there, it's hiding. I did that search long ago, and again a few minutes ago -- not as carefully this time, I'll admit, but I do know what I'm looking for.

It's a board-wide option. I can set the preference, but it would affect everyone.

...and given that the largest concentration of members is in the US, it wouldn't make sense to use the other order of digits...though it occurs to me to wonder what other formats are available. If there were one that spelled out the month, that would take care of any confusion. Just a thought...

How about the common international business usage?
9 April 2006? Is that an option?

Great! It gives the site much more of an international flair! I usually advise my students not to add the "st", "nd", etc., because some of them come up with "1th May", for example, but I think everybody can live with this solution.

That's the only option available. Wouldn't have been my first choice either.
