Hello

I was just curious have you seen any interactions between feral outdoor stray cats and wild animals? If so have you seen anything b ad happen?

From what I understand coyotes and fishers are the only animals that pose a serious threat.

I have some people who claim foxes and raccoons have attacked killed their cats but Ive seen many cats including my own interact with both these species and usually i see foxes ignore the cat or just bark at them and the coons just act like the cat isnt there.

What have you whitnessed?

I care for a feral colony of seven who don't seem to mind little "Oppie" who we lovingly named
They all eat side-by-side with no problems. The raccoon who occasionally visits is a whole other story!! The spitting, hissing & clawing is nerve-racking. Have gone outside in the middle-of-the-night quite a few times with broom in hand to scat our visiting raccoon away!!

I have seen & heard physical contact just once between raccoon & feral colony. Apparently, raccoon got a little too close for comfort and found himself surrounded my the males in the colony....interesting, the females backed-off & only the males stepped forward. Anyway...the raccoon did get the best of them; poor "Tom" banged hard into my storm-door. Not sure whether this was because the was actually thrown by raccoon or backed-up too quickly. Tom did limp for a few weeks after but fully recovered.

Raccoons are known to go after the little ones & "kitten season" has just begun.

I wouldn't say that coons don't attack cats, they certainly can and do, and will if food is involved. They will also kill kittens if they get half a chance. My cats have eaten side-by-side with possums and skunks though with no problem, but never coons.

I've seen the Canada geese at a nearby lake just terrorize a little red feral who got too close to a nest. Wing-flapping, honking, pecking, the whole nine yards. Next thing I knew there was a red streak headed far, far away from that goose!...

I have a feeling said little red feral will not bother the geese again--and smart, too; geese are quite strong.
