Well its been 1 week now since she lost the litter. I put her on clavamox started Monday just in case it was a small infection that caused the loss of the litter. Well she has been acting very depressed. She's not a lap cat, yet she will just lay on me, not sleep, just has to be with me. But yesterday she started shivering. I talked to the vet today and they said it was best I bring her in.

I imagine they will probably do an xray to see if there are kittens left? How can you tell if she retains a placenta, does that show on an xray? They should be able to tell through palpation right? I'm pretty sure there is nothing left, I saw all but one placenta, and am sure I saw her eat the other (was in the car), nor do I think there could possibly be a kitten. I dont' know what they are going to do or what they are looking for....

We are going in at 4pm.

I think it may show on the x-ray, they can see gas around dead kittens, and fluid in their lungs when they have phnemonia, so, I think they can see it, but they should feel it with palpation. I'm sure they will take a temp, and do blood work to make sure her red (mabey white) cell count is normal. I hope they just check every thing out and tell you she is fine and ease your mind, I wish I could. Take care of you too, you can't help sweet meeka if you are too run down and get sick. good luck! we're thinking of ya!

Im sure through feeling , he will be able to tell something..Xray only shows kittens, because they need the bone structures for that..Ultrasound is what shows placentas, when I was worried about Squiggles he felt something, but he said we would try the$25 xray first, then the $300 ultrasound..Thankfully we saw that she was just constipated with the xray, and we only could see that because everything was blocked..
Good luck with her, I hope its nothing

Ok they just wanted to check her temp. Its all good whew! They didn't even charge me so I was thrilled. The checked her abdomen and it felt ok. I guess they were concerned about pyo but it seems to be ok. They said she is going through the equivalent of menopause so it could be hot flashes.
