Okay, I know a ton of you will be jealous of this but it has become a problem. For the last week or so, every time I pick up Karma she starts to lick my face. She will not stop. I try to move my head and she grabs my face with her paw and pulls me back so she can keep licking. If I stick my hand in front of my face, between me and her mouth she starts to lick and what seems like suckling my fingers. She is 2 and spayed. I love it but I am starting to become raw. I don't know how to stop her. I don't want her to stop completely but just not so much.

I am at a loss as to what to do. My DH, a Ren and Stimpy fan, says she is trying to find Magic Nose Gooblins. Which is funny but its starting to hurt. Do cats relive childhood? It's like she is a little baby again and I am mom. She was a stray so we don't know how long she was with her mom. I swear someties I think she is tying to get milk out of my face or fingers.

I know I should not complain because she has become a love bug, but I hurt. How do I make her cut back? I don't want to say no and just stop picking her up because I know she loves the attention too.

She rarely does it to my DH. The only time she does is when she is on his shoulder and licks the back of his neck. Me though, I am raw from my nose down.

The cats house, we just pay the mortgage..
I know I shouldn't but I am giggling at your post

This is exactly what Sleeves does to Mark. He doesn't do it to me. Mark just pushes him away when he gets to rough. He does put his claws on his face sometimes as if to say 'Keep still!!!'.
I don't know how you can make her cut down I am sorry. Just know you're not the only one with a possessive kitty

Ellie is almost 2 now and has always licked and suckled on my fingers, arms, face and anywhere else she can get! She knows that if I say 'no' firmly I mean it but hten she stops and holds her nose to me as if driniking in my scent. And a few moments later she starts licking again. It is sweet but I agree that it gets too much. But I have never found a way to stop her completely. She does it to some visitors too, much to their embarrassment

Sonny's been doing this to me lately too....but mostly just on the front of my neck. And it sure does start to get raw and hurt. However, usually I can get him to stop if I push him away enough times.
He also always head-buts me in the chin EVERY time he gets on my lap.

Can you rub some lemon juice on your skin where she likes to lick? I'm guessing it's going to sting like all get out right now if your face is raw, but unless she loves lemons as well, you may taste bad enough for her to stop.
Have you started using a different lotion or skin moisturizer? I've read about a dog that loved the taste of lotion and would constantly lick it's owners because they tasted good.

Guinness, my black kitty, licks my neck and face raw if I let him. When I get home in the evenings he is desperate for me to pick him up so he can hug me and lick my face. He wakes me up in the morning by wiping his face on mine and licking my ears and neck. I let him do it for a little bit but then put him down or push him away when it gets to be too much. Its really cute, but it does hurt! He is still less than a year old so I don't know if he will do it forever. He used to lick my face all night long and I had to put bitter apple on my face and ears so he would leave me alone! So that is one option....

Bijou always liked his little suckle on my neck before bed but I started using a new night cream and he obviously doesn't like it because he won't stay too close to my face or neck anymore.

maybe a lemon-scented or apple-scented lotion? that wouldn't sting, at least!

Yeah, and some cats love the taste of lemon!

It'd be like a marinade...

Personally, I would just put her down, or remove myself from the situation when she gets "licky". Pick her up, pat her as usual, but when the licking starts, it's an instant removal.

I know that you see it as a sign of affection, but it's wrecking your skin! I don't think you can just have her do it "less". You'll have to break her of the habit completely.

Granny's Bitter Apple.

It's a solution that was originally meant to use on dogs to prevent them from biting themselves, but it's just as useful for cats. It's completely safe to use on your skin, and when your cat tries to lick you, she'll get a very awful bitter surprise. She'll stop very soon as it's a horrid flavour. Just keep using it until she stops trying.

We've used it here at home to stop my cat, Carl, from eating plants and cords.
