tonight our 21 mo old male is spending alot of time in the litter box trying to pee. His tail kinda shakes alittle & he sits there in his pee position. We've noticed that tonight he's been licking his pee pee way more than normal. Does he have some kind of urinary issue? He's neutered & a inside only cat with a 4 yr old spade female as a roomate.

Yes he could. Take him to the vet. They will know more but Dazy licked her area and didnt go because it did hurt making it difficult. Better safe then sorry because it can cause the body to fill with toxins

This definitely sounds like a urinary track infection. This is very painful and requires prompt Veterinary attention before it worsens. He could also have a blockage which is potentially fatal. Please take your little boy to the Vet for treatment as soon as possible.

Please go to the vet. Waste no time. It could be a blockage which needs treatment ASAP

This is a medical emergency. Male cats can easily develop urinary blockages and they are 100% fatal if not treated within 24-48 hours. The good news is that treatment is relatively straightforward. But you must, must, must rush him to the nearest vet immediately. If your normal vet is closed, take him to the nearest 24 hour emergency hospital. Do not wait until tomorrow under any circumstances. If he is blocked, tomorrow will be too late.

Good luck. Please keep us posted.

I woke up this morning & my right thigh was cold & wet...Teddy wizzed on & near me in bed sometime early early this morning. He's peeing normally and licking himself as usual today. The pee on the sheets had no noticable odor and didn't stain our white mattress pad. Kinda strange as I thought cat pee was highly concentrated and easily stains white linens. The wifey is taking him to the Vet for a check up...Thanks for the input.

What semiferal said. A male cat that is showing difficulty in urinating, especially at that age (but not only), is always a medical emergency. It is something to wake your vet up about in the middle of the night if needs be. Please let us know what the vet said.

Check his bladder regularly the next few days if you're not take it to the vet(you should).

To check the bladder all you have to do is lightly press his belly around his thigh, if you feel an orange push him in to the litter box. If he can't pee send him to vet asap.

Teddy is peeing regularly again & the Doc is running urine tests to see whats up. Bladder was empty when he was examinded. Had to leave him for the day so they could collect a sampel. Doc thinks it might be a reaction to food. Says some cat foods contain too much magnesium & that causes urinary problems...
