This is dedicated to all Pet owners, who have had to put their pet down.

We were the third owner of this "CAT". From what we knew she had been used for preeding, and we didn't know wht we were in for...She was a beautiful Himalyan. We aquired her from a home that had a toddler and a dog. She spent most of her time hiding under the bed, till child and dog had gone to bed. We have always had cats, but never a pedigreed cat. Our children had grown and gone, so there was no reason we shouldn't have another pet.

Fluffy spent the first month in our home hiding. She would eat, and use the litter box,but wanted no more to do with us. Needless to say it took time and patience to get her to accept us, but after running away at the lightest noise I could and she wouldn;t run. It seemed to take forever for her to adjust to us, and her new home. She would never allow us to pick her up or hold her but was content to lie beside me as close as she could get, and would take all the petting, neck scratching, and tummy rubbing I could give. When she decided to get up with me, she GOT UP ! She gradually took over our lives and hearts, as only a Cat can do.

All the boughten toys in the orld couldn't compare to a lightly rolled up piece of foil, or a piece of yarn with a small piece of paper tied to the end. She showed her trust and love by lying on her back with all feet in the air and snooze. She loved a romp with fresh catnip, and would roll and love it to death. When we would go away for an hour or a day, she would be at the door when we opened it. She seemed to know the sound of the car and was ready with a scolding for going away. She was my constant compaion for over twelve years giving Love as only a Cat can. When she didn't want to be touched, she could squirm away like an eel, but when she wanted attention, nothing would stand in her way.

When we retired from work, we were with her 24-7 and became doubly attached.

Flufy wasn't what you would call a normal Cat. She was a Cat that loved spaghetti sause, the more garlic and cheese the better, mushroom juice, ham the more expensive the better she loved it, she was a cat who would try lots of odd goodys and suprie you all the time. She would sit at a closed door waiting till you came out then tell you about not letting her in. She would lie at your feet with her nose almost on your toes till she was ready to do something else. All in all she was a CAT, indepndent and loving .

A few months ago, Fluffy became ill. The usual run of visits to the Vet didn't give us much hope. We fought to keep our pet with us, but finally had to do the humane thing, as she could barely walk, and wouldn't eat. I couldn't take her to the Vet, but my husband did. It nearly did both of us in.

We will always havw an Ache in our Hearts, but Fluffy isn't hurting antmore, and if there is a Cat Heaven , she is number one there, as she was here, with her unfailing devotion and love. We can't say we were Fluffy's owners for no one owns a Cat, they own you heart and soul. We say goodbye, with sorrow and love.

Thank you for opening your hearts and home to Fluffy, and thank you for letting us get to know her. Sorry for your loss; each of us here extends our love and sympathy and welcome to you as a new member. Please, continue to visit the site; you wll never regret getting to know these good (cat loving) people. Be sure to let us know when the time is right and you and your husband adopt (or rather I should say get adopted by) another loving/needing loving feline. Again, we would all love to hear anything else you want to share with us about Fluffy or anything.

============Our love and prayers=====

Oh Korky...I am so sorry to hear about your Fluffy.
I too had a cat named Fluffy who I loved very much and who disappeared right after Thanksgiving last year, and I never found her. I think either something killed her, or she got into a car motor and was driven off with (and possibly killed)

I am so glad you have joined us all here!!!!!! Welcome!!

It sounds like Fluffy was a wondeful cat. I am so glad someone finally gave her a reason to like people. Although, Fluffy will be missed, it is always heart warming to know that after a rough start, the remainder of her time was spent with people who opened their hearts to her!

OK Korky, you have successfully brought me to tears at work! I avoided choking up too much reading Debs post about helping me out because of my recent cat-life saving expense, but this just did me in.

What a sweet and wonderful mom you are (as all here are I've noticed). Fluffy was fortunate to share a great home with her purr-fect humans.

Your story did shake the never-far memory of Delilah, the overly lovable Siamese I met when she was already 11 years old and we had to do the same thing when she was sixteen. I understand your heartbreak, because of this. What a sweet kitty you had in Fluffy!

Hi Korky, Welcome to the cat site. My heart goes out to you on your loss but, know that you gave Fluffy many happy years. Over the years, we have had to have several cats put down because of poor health but, I always know we have loved them and given them the best possible life while they were with us. My sixteen year old calico was diagnosed with renal failure just before Thanksgiving and although she is doing O.K.right now, I know we will have to face losing her in the near future. She does not want to use the litter box but, wets on newspaper outside the box and I gladly clean it up twice a day. What we do for our animals!

Please accept my condolences for the loss of your Fluffy. We here on this site all know and share the heartbreak of losing a special friend - I recently had to put down my Sphynx, Chloe. My husband and I (and Chloe's sister Phoebe) all went to the vet together and saw her cross the Rainbow bridge. I stayed home from work the next day and cried for days. Because you gave her so much and are such a good cat person, I hope you will eventually open your heart up to another poor creature who needs your love, care and understanding. As much as it hurts to lose an animal you love, we have the ability to love many, many animals and if we do not, other animals will die because there are not enough homes. I do cat rescue, and everytime one of my abused or neglected cats goes to a new home, I know that all the tears, sleepless nights and work is well worth it.

Hi , thank you for your response about Fluffy...Your situation with your cat seems to be in the same light as ours...It is like having a child in your family die. It is no easy task puting an animal down...Thanks for the tears, we have shed many. Take care and thanks again....Korky

Hi Kaaren, Thank you for your letter. It is very comforting to her from Cat people. Sorry to hear that you cat is failing. Part of Flufy's problem was renal. The last couple of months we had to follow her around the house, she also was spotting---Blood. We wish you the best with your Calico, we know what you are facing. Take care, and thanks you again for your letter. Korky

Hi Rene, Thank you for your letter about Fluffy. I folks from the Car Sitr have been wonderful with their resposes. Sorry to hear you had to put your Chloe down. We get so attatched to them, and never think the time will come when you may have to put them down. I can see you were in the same situation as us. It's nice that people like you rescuse cats and find new home for them. you will get your reward in heaven. Take care of yourself and your animals, an thanks again for your support....Korky

Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of Fluffy. There is little I can add to the sentiments already expressed here, as I share them all. Just know that the love you and Fluffy shared can never die; and thus she is with you always.
