I think Malree is getting a little bored lately. She seems to be getting into things more the last week or so, and its the same things that have always been in my room, so its nothing new. I was thinking I had heard behavior like that could mean she is bored? She has lots of toys to play with, but she doesn't seem to use them that much. I try and play with her atleast an hour spread out through the afternoon evening, if not more. I am in the process of getting her used to a leash/harness so I can take her outside to explore/sit/etc. Is there anything else I can do to make sure she is content?

PS - I would LOVE to get a brother or sister for her, but its out of the question right now. Since I'm in college with my parents supporting me, its not really up to me. Took me a while to convince them to let me get Marlee. Hopefully I'll get another sometime in the future, but will probably be another year or so.

Maybe she's just tired of the toys she has? I've heard lots of people suggest having a rotating group of toys and bringing out a new group once in a while.

Tak loves stringy things that bounce and have feathers on them. She likes it even more if one of us will play with her!

The rotating toys is a good idea, I may try that! And Marlee loves the toys with feathers too! The one she has right now is a "door hanger" that came with feathers and things on the end, but currently she has pulled off all the feathers! Anyways, thanks for the suggestion!

Do you have a tv in your room? A friend bought one of those made-for-cats videos (containing things like squirrels, birds, etc.) to occupy one of her cats while she was gone, and she said it worked great.

Good luck!

Pulled off all the feathers! Yes, I know that plight...

We recently got Tak a bumblebee from Ikea that was extremely cheap. It's full of catnip and she LOVES it! She's currently sleeping with it in her basket...

I hide little pieces of dry food around the room she sleeps in at night so she hunts for them. I also have play tunnels and paper bags at different levels. and of course a cat tree is great. you can get them cheaper on ebay than in the stores.

she also likes ping pong balls in a dry bath tub, they seems to keep moving forever.

I don't know if you can find anything like I am thinking of around you, but Lily's favorite toys are springs. They are colorful little springs that she takes great care in stretching out as far as she can until they don't "spring" anymore.
Lily like toy mice, so I have 5 sets of them, each in a labeled ziploc bag. One set is catnip, one set is big, one set small, one set is pom/pom like, & one set has feather tails. I rotate those every 2 days or so.

Instead of buying a DVD for Marlee, you might try one you aleady own. Lily loves to watch Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, Interwiew with the Vampire, Gladiator(yuck!), & her favorite one is Milo & Otis(dog & cat movie).

You oculd try an interactive "mouse" or some other creature. I bought one for Lily, but the dog hogs it. There are quite a few toys out there that move when you cat bats them. I have seen ones that have butterflies in them that move for a trigger.
