My cat is due hopefully this week as shes so big all she can do is sleep lol She stays in the nesting box and under the coffee table. My question is how messy is the birth? I have new carpet and I am very worried she will have them there! Is there anything I can do to make sure she doesn't. I can't keep her locked up incase she has longer than a few days to go! Any advise is much needed! Thanks,
Melissa

Melissa...if you are concerned about your carpet...it is best to move her to another room. Even if the birth is not messy..there is a good chance that as the kittens grow older, they will have accidents as they learn about the litterbox. When I had a foster mom and her kittens, I kept them in my bathroom. I found this worked really well as the tiles were easy to clean.

I agree that moving her to another room is the best option. Also, just in case she would happen to have them on your carpet, accidentally, there are enzyme cleaners that really do work to take out blood stains. I know this from experience.

"Carbona Stain Devil' has multiple formulas (for different types of stains) that REALLY work, even on dried on blood stains. They can be found in most grocery stores and are in little yellow bottles. Here is a link to their website where you can do a search for stores that sell it near you. Hope that helps:

I know the oxy works good then spray it with zero odor. Honestly you should put her in the bathroom. If you can see she is pregnant and feel she is pregnant chances are she is going to poop in a week are two. It says you can see the kits move 2 weeks before birth.

To avoid a spot on the carpet, I would put down one of those underpads made for humans ... you can place the nesting material over top of it for added protection. I get the ones I use at Wal-Mart in a package of 10 for about $7.00.
