I got home kinda late yesterday cause I stopped at the hopsital to visit with my dad for a few (nothing serious there) got home and rushed to get the critters fed, etc and sat down on the couch and he jumped up beside me and the side of his face was swollen! his eye was almost closed and there was swelling on his nose too- he looked like a hamster who was storing his food! I called the emergency vet and they said i better bring him in (Sime has leukemia, which is the main reason I freaked) I was afraid it was an abcessed tooth or something! The Dr said is was probably just an allergic reaction to an insect bite, because it was not really bothering him, he was still very alert and active and gave him a steroid shot and a benadryl shot- the swelling was down this morning- I took half a day vacation to be sure, but gee whiz did that give me a fright! Anybody have something similar happen?

One good thing is that the vet assistant got most of his claws clipped ( he absolutely hates getting that done and he has some wicked claws) before he started biting her

Been there...I was home while i got the back door on my house replaced when I noticed something on the carpet. It was a piece of yarn covered in poop...I rush over to Rambo (he eats everything) and there is a piece of yarn hanging out of his bum. I panicked...and rushed him to the vet. Turns out he had eaten some of the hair off an old doll i have...sigh...lucky for them we love them!

Now shes fine! And I know your sweet baby will be in no time!!

When we where in the Desert Dazy was bit also no clue what but her paw was awful and it went all the way up the arm. Was told it was an allergic reaction also.

thanks for your well wishes! he's doing fine, just a little swelling remains, but he's eating and head-butting me, so I think he'll be okay

Hmmmm, I don't know if "sweet" would be the right word.... but I love him and that cat loves me more than I ever thought a cat could love a person

Okay, well I was trying to be diplomatic!
How about if we say your relationship with him is sweet?

If I knew what is was I would! the doc said it might've been a spider or other insect
hopefully he learned his lesson not to mess with them

I was actually considering that, figures I could put half a tablet in his food...

Unfortunately now he has started to scratch at his face, and he's broken the skin
I chased him around all last night to make sure he wasn't doing it anymore, I also put Neosporin on it, but he still has a little bump, no swelling, but the bump is still there- if its not gone by the end of the weekend I'm gonig to have to take him back to the vet

Our chocolate lab Kisses had something like that happen to her last year. My son arrived home and called upset saying something was wrong with her face. That her face was swollen and her eyes were almost shut. She
had bumps all over her face. We rushed her to the ER and they gave her a shot of benadryl. Then they told us to go buy Benadryl over the counter and give it to her till the swelling and itching went down. They said she
had an allergic reaction to something in the yard. To this day I don't know what it could have been.
