Okay guys, have a confession to make. Hope no one's shocked or thinks bad of me, but I've got guys on my mind again this morning. No, not George Clooney. Last night I had a dream about Ryan Seacrest!
It was completely innocent, but still... I didn't post about this, but a little while back when I was rearended and went to pick up my rental car, I thought the Enterprise guy was sooo cute. Tall, dark hair, brown eyes. His name was Fernando. I actually caught myself flirting with him a little bit.
He was too young for me, but I look younger than I am and he flirted back. That made my whole month. I'm so bad. I take my vows and committment very seriously. This is what I want to do, but every now and then it's really a struggle. Guess I'll just go drool over my George calendar for a while.

Eileen, I think it is normal for you to feel like that occasionally, vows or not. We all sometimes want something we can't have, like George Clooney!

So, I guess you really like Ryan Seacrest's new beard last night, huh?

I like him better without the beard, but it was the last show I watched before going to bed, so guess he was on my mind!

Thanks a lot, Brand!

Honestly, most of the time I'm really happy with this way of life and believe it's what I'm meant to do, but this part can be a challenge sometimes. It's like I go through phases where I don't even think about it and then I have one of those stupid dreams or meet somebody I'm attracted too.

Eileen look at it this way, you would have been struck with lightening well before now if he dissaproved but you havent, so i always say God gave us the capability to think the things we do.

Oh and i know who Ryan Seacrest is now, and yes he's not bad at all!

My sister was Dominican sister for 6 years, but she left before she could make her final vows...it wasn't for her. She told us that it's okay to admit if guys are cute
I saw her and some others doing it all the time, and apparently they'd talk about it with each other, too, it's kind of cute. It's fine as long as it doesn't turn into lust or a serious infatuation.

So did you take vows as a nun, or as 3rd order? I know of this one little old lady that goes to my church, and she's a third order Carmelite, but she wears a habit and a brown lace veil, so I'm guessing she took the vow of chastity, as well. In most (if not all) third orders you can take vows but you can be married and stuff...it's typically layman's vows (well, it is), so I find it interesting that you think it might be bad to flirt with a guy(unless of course you're second order and are a sister).

You're right, Susan, and I know from speaking with the other Sisters that this is something most of them have experienced.

At least I'm dreaming about guys I'd never a shot with anyway.

You're right, there are different forms of membership. I took the vows and
am a sister. We do talk about guys amongst ourselves. One of the sisters really has a thing for Tom Cruise, which I totally don't get. It's all just talk
and can be really fun and a good way to deal with things.

There you go!, you can look but not touch, BUT, i've got to ask this Eileen?.

What if, George Clooney bumped the back of your car one day and cupids bows were flying all over the place with the two of you

I used to have a thing for Tom Cruise before he completely lost his mind. Now I can't stand him. During his Risky Business days though, I was all about Tom!

Eileen, I do have to thank you once again for sharing things like this with us. You really do show us the "human" side of nuns that we don't always get to see. I remember going to catechism as a child and being terrified of the nuns and to this day get nervous when I see a nun in her habit. You have really broken some of the stereotypes for me.

View it as an honest appreciation of God's creation. Nothing wrong with that is there?

You are human and you have eyes! You are not doing anything wrong. When my SO's grandma was in her final days, we had several nuns of varying ages that came to visit almost daily. They were so sweet, and they liked to come down and have ice cream and watch the hot young groundskeeper across the street cut the grass and get all sweaty. There was one that was a good bit older that the others, and she would giggle and tell the others that even the most devout sisters were allowed to admire God's handiwork, even if it came in the form of a young man cutting grass. He was so beautiful, he looked like Da Vinci could have sculpted him. A woman with a drop of estrogen would have had to be dead not to look at him!

Trust you to ask the tough questions, Susan!

Well, I'd probably suggest that we have a secret fling and then go to confession!

Seriously, it would hard, but I'd resist giving into temptation. I've made my choice.

I have to thank all of you for being so understanding and giving me the chance to talk about these kinds of things. I could talk about it with our Sisters, but most of them are older than me by at least 20 years, so sometimes it's hard for them to relate to what I'm going through. And, my family and friends aren't really comfortable with it either.

I had seriously considered becoming a nun, so I can understand some of what you are going through. My life path, however diverged when I met my hubby. Still, I sometimes look back and wonder.....
