I'm just wondering why sometimes when I quote people, they don't show up as proper quotes in yellow shading but as: [quote blah blah etc quote] instead?
It's when I've deleted some of the quoted text in the interests of brevity. But sometimes that works fine. It seems kind of hit or miss and I can't figure out why it would work sometimes and not others?

When you delete parts of it you are probably deleting Part of the brackets.

No, I'm always careful about keeping the brackets (I think...)

try quoting me and deleting part of what I wrote and make sure you leave both sides of the brackets around the quotes.

You have to make sure it's like this when you quote someone .....

who evers name said:
(but keep the "quote" wording in caps), then the post your quoting, then

[ /QUOTE]

Is that any help?

And the tags do not have to be in CAPS, they just have to be complete.

Oh I see!
I've been chopping off the [/ part. I thought you just needed to encase the whole quote in those square brackets.
Thanks for the help everyone!
