Hey guys...

So, my sweet Hobbes just goes INSANE for broccoli...will do ANYTHING to get at it. He's been that way about it all his life now. I've never given it to him because I worry that it isn't good for him.

So, I just have to ask...would it hurt for him to have it every now and then?

I wonder what it is about broccoli that so appeals to him...could it be the iron he smells in it?

So...any ideas?

I wouldn't think it would hurt him occasionally - only if it replaced his normal diet! After all, cats eat grass naturally, and sometimes the vegetables inside the stomachs of their prey.

I don't see how it could possibly hurt him; in fact, he may not be so interested once he actually tastes it!
We had a cat once that went absolutely crazy for cantalope--he smelled it when it came in the door & wouldn't give up until he got some.
I give Hobbes a bit of the florets & see what happens.

It shouldn't be a problem to give it to him occasionally. My Gracie loves several fruits and vegetables and my says that's fine in small amounts.

I don't see any problem, Alfafa is part of my cats regular diet.

I once saw a show on cooking for your cat on Animal Planet, and a small bit of broccoli was part of the recipe.

Ok, cool...then I'll give him a small piece for treats occassionally, or maybe one a week to add to the diet (just a small piece).

Thank you very much, guys!!

Here... or There... Hmmm
Kitters loves broccoli too!!! She much prefers to eat the little leaves on the stem of the broccoli as opposed to the green parts we eat! (which works out just great) she gets about two or three leaves when we eat fresh broccoli at home, (which isn't enough for my tastes either I love it!!)

Oh, that's adorable.

I've found that Hobbes ignores the rest of the brocolli, and eats only the crowns (the few times he's gotten a hold on one...lol).

He'll probably be getting it more often now that I've learned that it's safe for him to eat, though!
