The Mrs. and I married young. For the right reasons I guess. We were just kids so we just bought a ring with a tiny chip lost in a sea of yellow gold. We never upgraded the ring and she wore it for 25 years. She never complained. I got her another one day for no reason or holiday we now refer to as the "RockPile". She so deseves it.. Sometimes.

These rings are gorgeous ladies!
Tanya, I really love your ring- it looks just like my best friend's engagement ring!

Here are a couple of pictures of mine. The center diamond is 1.39 carats and it's surrounded by 5 channel-set diamonts (totalling .39 carats) on both sides. The band is white gold.

That is so sweet.

I love my ring. It was my Mom's and my fiancee had it reset. Its the only jewelry I wear (until I get my wedding band). The photo doesnt do it justice. It looks blue in the picture, but it is very clear. Its about 2/3 carat. I shrunk the good photo too much and can't un-shrink it.

I don't have one yet and I'm getting a little antsy........

Yes, I know I'm only 20, but I've been dating this character for 2 and a half years and he's been telling me he wants to spend the rest of his life with me for, oh, 2 years of that and....yeah. No conclusive plans
That goof. Maybe he'll get his courage up on the 17th of this month which is a highly significant day for us.

I want something like what Tanya/Squirtle has!

Everyones ring is so beautiful
Thank you all for the lovely comments about mine
I love it as well. I waited for it for a long time.... 7 years to be exact! We have decided to wait until I am done with nursing school to get married, mainly for financial reasons. We bought our house last year and are very happy together. At first I was disappointed with that decision because I wanted to be married "now"
, but realistically nothing is going to change when we do get married. We have been together for too long. You guys can't tell he has brainwashed me into waiting can you?

Sometimes I look down at my ring and I get this warm feeling because I am so lucky to be with such an amazing guy. I know it sounds silly but the ring just kind of brought it all together and put the "forever" in our relationship. All that to say... I love my ring but not for material reasons, but because of what it stands for. Does that make sense?
I am sure it does, because I know you all feel the same way

I expect mine will have to be designed.
He wants to get me sapphire (his favorite and my birthstone), I want emerald (my favorite).
Since blue and green are quite complimentary to each other, they would look very nice either brilliant cut, or emerald cut in a white gold or platinum setting.

I also don't like large stones or flashy settings.

I have tiny fingers and so wear tiny rings.

I have an eternity ring that I have to wear on my other hand because my fingers are too small to hold all three and still be able to bend my finger

We're in the same position as Sailfish in that things were tight when we first got together - even though we could afford to "upgrade" now, this ring carries all the love of our engagement with it; nothing else would mean the same.

What size ring do you wear Beth? Just curious because everyone says that about mine and I wear a size 4.

Mine is platinum and has a 1 ct Princess Cut Diamond in the middle. The stone was hand-selected and the setting custom made by my husband's best friend's father, who is a diamond broker and gemologist. I don't have a picture and my camera is sucking wind right now.

Tanya, my wedding and engagement rings are the equivalent of a size 5 in the US and as you can see are just a little big. They fit me when we bought them over 20 years ago
. They are just small enough that they don't slip over my knuckles thank goodness.

Did you know you can get them cut in 1/4 sizes too? Just in case you need it cut a tad bit smaller
My hands swell a bit sometimes and it feels too tight, but I can't change the size because then it would be too large and slip over my knuckle at other times.

I had a swirly gold marquis cut with little baguettes down eack side, and he picked it out without me even knowing he was going to ask me. It was perfect for me back then, but nowadays I wouldn't pick it. I like white gold now. After the divorce I sold it for $400 at my mom's rummage sale...

Oh I know, this is my crazy superstition though. It's the same as my Gran's wedding ring, I wouldn't have that made smaller either. To me it symbolises an unbroken circle of love, to break it would be bad. So the circle has to stay whole
.

Don't worry about rationalising it - it doesn't have to make sense

It's not crazy! I understand completely.
Mine was sized when he gave it to me so hopefully that doesn't count
