Your engagement ring...

Well, Maxey was asking me mysterious questions tonight and so it got me to thinking about engagement rings. I know it's something LOTS of women think about even from a very early age, so I'm wondering - what's yours like? Either the one you have, or the one you hope to have?

My first engagement ring was a huge garnet bezel set in a lovely antique gold setting. I loved it, although a lot of people thought it wasn't much `like' an engagement ring. We went and picked it out together, and as soon as I saw it I knew it was `the one'.

I still love the design, but this time (if it happens, of course!) I think I'd like a diamond - well, three actually, princess cut and in a row, oh and definitely white gold this time. Nice!

What's yours like? Do you have the one you really wanted? Did you pick it out or was it a surprise? Or, what's the one you dream of??

Ben suprised me by wanting to get engagement rings, so we walked into the store and asked what they had, we got two silver bands and i really liked this other ring that is silver with 3 diamonds on it. (i showed a pic of the rings in another thread back when i announced i was engaged)
When we called off the engagement i took my silver band off but not the diamond one i wear that on my rude finger.

This was not really a engagement ring i just fell in love with it and ended up buying it... (its not like he bought it or anything since i payed off the visacards )

A lot of people stop and stare at the ring when im talking to them, i think i may have to take it off soon

Although were not together now i still wear my engagement ring but on my right hand. I'll take a picture of it tonight but it has 3 diamonds in a row, and i picked it.

I also want a 3 stone princess cut in either white gold or platinum. Yellow gold just isn't my style. I don't havea clue what I will end up getting but I know it will be gorgeous because I have dropped Lee so many hints its crazy!!

I received mine last Valentine's Day. Here it is It's platinum, 1 carat, round. (I took the pics with my camera phone so they aren't great)

Jeff proposed to me on November 19/05. I knew that he was going to ask me soon but I thought he was going to wait for Christmas or our anniversary (Dec 27). He went to 7 different jewelrey stores and picked it out all on his own

Mine is like that, but it also has 2 small stones on each side.

Tracy your ring is gorgeous. That is impressive for a guy to pick out all on his own!

My ring is a bridal set....so my engagement ring fits inside the wedding band...its white gold with a marquee (*spelling) diamond in the middle...there are 3 diamonds on each side of the marquee....and there is a row of 5 diamonds on both sides of the band going down.....we got it at zales

Gorgeous rings everyone. I'll have to get you one of mine. Jerry had it made. The middle stone is the one out of his mom's engagement ring. His father passed in 97 and she has since remarried. He proposed on New Years Eve, 1999, a minute or two before the new century!

Oohhh Karen, that is SO pretty!

My original ring was an emerald cut diamond in a yellow gold flange setting and i took it to a jeweler to be cleaned. He nicked one of the prongs and the stone fell out once while we were on vacation. Luckily I saw the rock pop out and did not lose it. I took it to another jeweler to repair it and he totally mangled the job. By that time the man who had cast the setting had died and there was no way I could get it replaced. It was a major bummer.

So in its place I have two other rings. A princess 1 carat stone set in white gold which I wear with my wedding band which is white gold and has engroved insidie the hebrew inscription: ani le dodi ve dodi li = that means I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine. And a cabochon emerald set in a white gold filagree setting for my left hand. After the cat, they are what I would save in a fire.

Here is mine. Chris picked it out as the engagement was an almost complete surprise. I went to Conneticut on a horseback riding competition and I called my dad to let him know the problems I had at the airport. My dad said that Chris just walked in...I thought what is Chris doing at my dads while I'm on my way to CT? So it got me thinking... Otherwise I would never have known. Either way I thought if he proposed it would be on my birthday but he ended up proposing after we went to see Cats at the fountain in front of the auditorium as everyone was streaming out . It was so sweet.

My wedding ring has 4 saphires and 3 diamonds rotating. I can't show that yet as I'm not quite married!

Jareds? I really like them.. Mine has a platinum setting but a regular gold band. My fiance's wedding band will be 2-tones as well as my wedding band. I'm so excited!
