Not sure why you are, , but I don't recall seeing many Maine Coon breeders post here.

Your best bet is to visit http://www.kittysites.com
Click on the breeders link and check the websites of all the Maine Coon breeders there.

Not a MC breeder, but price of kittens would be determined on if the cat is show quality or pet quality. And price would be much higher for a breeding cat (rights). Most good breeders will NOT sell you a whole male - most males are neutered for several reasons.

I'd check out MC breeders at some local shows and talk to them for what you are interested in.

If cost is an issue for you, maybe you could contact a Maine Coon Rescue. I would love to have one, too, but I just could not bring myself to pay the price that reputable breeders need to get for their lovely kitties. Until I came to this board, I did not realize just how costly it is to breed healthy animals, and thought breeders were way out of line with prices. Most of them do it for the love of the breed, with very little profit. One of the many things I have learned here at TCS.

Definitely check with Maine Coon Rescue. The cats are not guaranteed purebred. However, since it's an older cat, you can check out it's personality. I was going to get one through them before Puppy showed up. They're on petfinder.org. I liked them because they seemed very honest about the personalities of the cats. Also, I think they will help you with transporation if the cat is coming from farther away.
