change in behavior after neutering

I had my newest semi-feral cat neutered a couple weeks ago and he has completely changed. I know that having him neutered could calm him down but it's like I came home with a different cat. He's becoming extremely loveable. He is starting to like other family members. He still favors me but if I'm not around he will tolerate others. He went from never sitting still to a lap cat. The only remaining problem is his jealosy (but ALL my cats seem to have that problem. ) I talked to my vet because I didn't expect him to change that much and even they were surprised. I was told it normally takes about a month to see a change. I'm not complaining AT ALL it just seems strange to me that he would change so quickly.

Has anyone else had a cat that changed so much after being spayed/neutered?

That does seem odd, I've heard that it takes a month for the hormones to leave the system. Are you sure its not residual pain meds, ie he's high? That's great though that your kitty is so friendly now!!! Yay!

I know he's not high on meds because he hasn't had any in 3 weeks now. After the second day home he was back to being his old self, as far as affects from the meds. I know he did have a hard time coming out of the anesthesia. The vet kept him longer than normal because he had a hard time waking up.

Oh definitely. Our Hobbes changed overnight like that, too. It was within a week that he was sleeping on my lap almost non-stop! He went from never wanting to be pet to getting up only when I had to use the restroom, waiting until I came back, and then laying right back down on my lap when I got back. It was really something...

My female changed suddenly after she had her surgery. Went from being skittish to a cat that loves to be cuddled. I guess in some cases it can be a sudden change, I think the hormones at the moment may have something to do with it.
