Has anyone tried toilet training their cat(s)?

I was wondering if anyone here has tried, or been successful at, training their cat or cats to use the toilet.

If so, I'd really like to hear your experience, opinions, suggestions, and possibly as you a question or two if you've been successful.

A few members have tried toilet training. It is a nice way to save on cat litter.
However, if by accident the cat gets splashed by water or anything similar while using the toilet, you will have to retrain with very, very low chances of success.

I had both cats on it...regularly all the way up to second week cut out...then I am not sure what happened but neither would use it. One of them pooped on the carpet rather than use it...so its in the *pile of things the cats hate* I dont really know anyone who has gotten their cats potty trained on it. But it would be nice wouldnt it *g

Tried it with my first cat. Mitten was scared of water and did ok with toliet training until you had to remove the pan between the seat. He saw water in the bowl and refused to jump on the seat any more.

Never tried to train another cat after that.

This gives me a chuckle... One of our girls (I wont embarass her by telling you exactly who) always jumps right into the water if she is around the toilet when someone lifts the lid. Its like a cat magnet for her... toilet training would never work she would just go for a swim. lol Unfortunatly she has even jumped in when the toilet was in use...my poor fiance freaked out and quickly bathed her. lol

I had one hold out in my clan. Once my other cats saw that she wouldn't use it, they stopped! LOL *sigh* She is also the one that showed them how to jump the baby gate and knock things over on purpose! LOL

I tried training my cats to use the toilet but was unsuccessful. I didn't actually try very hard because after the first week I simply decided that DIGGING IS FUN.
