My cat lost ability to purr and meow

I have a one year old cat that is an indoor cat. He does go out on the back patio for several minutes aday. One week ago another cat came into the yard and my cat chast after it and they fought for about 5 seconds, I yelled loudly and the other cat ran off. Then next day my cat was unable to make audible noises, ie....purr, meow.......it has been about 6 days, he is barley getting back his voice. Any idea or suggestions?

It could be that there is an infection from a bite wound festering. It is not always easy to find a bite wound, the easiest way to *try* and find it is to place kitty on your lap to where she is relaxed and comfortable and then slowly pass your hand a few inches above her fur. You are looking for heat coming up to meet your hand. That is the likely place for the bite. My suggestion is you take your kitty into the vet and have him make sure everything is okay. Good luck
