Cala is eating anything edible in sight! Currently she is chowing down on pizza rolls (which were intended for my chihuauha) She's already had 2 bowls of Fancy Feast dry (the past week she averages 3-4 bowls a day). I've never seen a kitty eat so much. I did have a dream that she had 7 kittens though. Maybe that would explain it!

She really should be eating kitten food until she is done nursing. Its higher in fat and calories, so she might stop eating pizza rolls...

I wonder if she really will have seven kittens! Whew! That would be crazy!

I would rethink giving your chihuahua pizza rolls too.

But I do agree that she need kitten food, not adult food, until the kittens are weaned around 12 weeks.

Just wanted to add, I have read that sometimes animals will overeat because they are not getting enough of what they need in their diet. So they eat more of whatever is available to get those nutrients. That they will eat less of the good stuff because what they need is there, so they do not have to eat more to get it. (I cannot say this is a true, only something I have read)

Maybe try introducing a better quality cat (kitten) food with less fillers and more good proteins and she really may settle into better eating habits?

I feed Chicken Soup for the Cat/Kitten Lovers Soul dry and Nutro canned.

They eat a more consistent diet now, much more consistent than before I switched over.

Just a suggestion, espcially because she is pregnant...she really needs to be filling herself with good, high protein foods. For her health and the health of the kittens.

I will add my vote to feeding her a good, high-quality kitten food in both dry and canned formulas while she is pregnant and until the babies are weaned. Let her eat as much as she will take without overfeeding. She needs the extra calories now and will continue to need them all the while she is nursing.
