I am getting pretty worried about Tullah. She doesn't seem to be having contractions but she sure has been wailing for the past hour or so. I let her climb up and lay in my lap and that calmed her down a little but she got pretty restless and moved on to wander around. I think it is getting close, but I have thought that for the past week and a half. I just am worried because she is getting pretty overdue. She is a petite cat and I don't want them to get to big for her. She is at least 65 days and at the most 72 days.
I just don't know what to do with her. She absolutely hates the car and the closest vet is 30 minutes.
I hope she has them by tommorow because I really cannot afford a c-section. It is one of those expenses that I WILL do if I have to, I just don't know where it is going to come from. LOL maybe we just won't eat.

She is wailing? *not sure what that means, calling out, crying, loud meowing? I'll bet contractions have started.

If she isnt in noticable pain I wouldnt take her..
Only because the night Squiggles went into labor, I could tell something "just wasnt right" for about 3-4 hours before the baby was born...
She started pacing, then louder and louder yelping, almost like a meow, but it wasnt a meow, if that made sense...

I noticed the contractions, and her back pushing towards the ground, then the screams were enough to make me know for sure it was time..
20 minutes later came baby...

Unless you truelly sense something is wrong I wouldnt rush there tonight..I would say see where you are 3 hours from now, because tonight really might be the day

The babies who have been trying to burrow out of her sides the past few days have become quite still today. They might barely move if you push on them. (This doesn't bother Tullah). My mother said she isn't a vet but a lot of times things become pretty still before birth, because there just isn't anymore room to wiggle. If this is the case hopefully it is about time.

Tonight is the night, I can feel it in my bones!

She is going to have 3 girls and 2 boys (or maybe 3 of each). (lol, I am probably totally off...but it is fun guessing)

A lot of girls get very anxious right before delivery and do pace about vocalizing. I liken it to very pregnant women not being able to get comfortable anywhere in any position and kvetching at the world ... *grin*

She is probably going to deliver these babies very, very soon. If they have gotten still and have begun to "burrow out of her sides", it sounds like they are moving downwards into position in the birth canal. This is a delicate question, but does her hiney-end look at all swollen or moist? Is she grooming or trying to groom that area at all? Is she digging around in her nest and trying to find a comfortable spot?

Well yesterday the vet said that her vulva was not swollen at all (and this is why oxytocin was not an option) and today it may look a tad more swollen, but it could be wishful thinking. She isn't nesting at all. If she decides to sit it is usually in the living room. I haven't put my other cats up because she seems to be enjoying them. Taking care of them like usual. I think I am just going to let her do her thing. Earlier I really didn't want her to have them on the floor but right now I just don't care. If she does then I will grab a towel and gently put it under her...as long as she gets it done!

I sure hope she has them I am getting so tired of this waiting game....someone else said that she was a more nervous mother than the cat and that is me too!

I always keep kitten milk and a bottle at the house because this town has sooo many cats and I have already had to raise 3.
KMR is really expensive when you have to completely raise kittens. There is a local pet store that sells dried lambs milk for kittens. I raised my three on this but I was wondering is this an ok substitution or should I always use KMR?

Hmmm, never heard of it...good question though.

Yes, KMR can be quite expensive if you have to do more than supplement.

Are you worried that you will have to hand raise them?

No I am not worried about raising Tullah's. I was just thinking about it because like I said in the town I am in its not uncommon and something to be prepared for.

Oh man, I was SURE she was starting labor last night. (what happened to my psychic powers!?!?!) She sure is a procrastinate! I'm so bummed out! Oh well, I guess it's not all about me, LOL.

You say she is acting normal, babies still moving around in thre? If so, I wouldn't worry, just talk to the vet about it tommorow if nothing happens by then.

I really hope you don't have to end up with a c-section. There is still time for this to be a normal, healthy delievery...don't go into panic mode until there is real cause. Kwim?

I am hoping and praying you come back soon (befre tommorow) with some great news of those 5-6 kittens I am expecting, LOL

From what I am reading, she was bred sometime between Jan 20 and the 27th? If so, that puts her between day 64 and day 71, today.

It is very possible that she became pregnant at the middle to end of that time frame. That would put her right on time, possibly.

Also, while 63-65 days is average...from what I have read, even day 68 would be not be considered 'abnormal'. So, she still could easily be within the normal timeframe.

And she very well could be in that first stage of labor, even though nothing significant has happened:

During the first stage of labor, the mother cat seems uneasy and restless. She may refuse food or water. The cat’s rectal temperature drops, and she seeks dark, secluded places. Considerable howling may occur. This stage lasts 12-24 hours. In the second stage, contractions and expulsion of the kittens begin.
