Hey

I have had my cat for 3yrs now. His an indoor/outdoor cat. Always has a clean litter and he always uses it. We recently moved into a new home so his outside alot more frequently. He has been eating ALOT more lately aswell which i have noticed him putting on abit of size.

Also keep in mind he has had the runs the last couple of days........

Yesterday i had vaccumed the carpets and sprinkled some of that carpet powder to gives the carpet a nice smell. I have also just moved into this brand new house 1mth ago.

After i did the vaccumm and had the house smelling all nice and clean i smelt this disusting smell...YES he crapped on the carpet
put his nose to it smaked him and took him outside....Watching a movie later at night smelt the smell again YES he crapped on the carpet AGAIN!

I was extremly disapointed, frustrated and confused to as why he was doing this. He wouldnt even claw the carpet for me to know his about to do something. His litter was clean and he always uses it...is their a reason for this
before he starts living outside!!!!

First of all, please don't hit your cat. It will only scare him and confuse him more.

If he has diarrhea and is going outside of the litterbox, a trip to the vet is definitely in order.

Please never, ever, ever hit your cat! Putting his nose in his stool is also not at all effective!

You mentioned he has had diarrhea the past few days. That, in addition to this new change in behavior indicates he needs to go to his Vet promptly for a thorough physical exam.

I didnt hit him hard at all and i took him there just to show him what he did was wrong, im not cruel to animals so im sorry it came across that way.

I also forgot to mention he p****d in the bean bag yesterday
do you think because i put the carpet cleaner down his trying to get his scent back??

I put him in his room last night where his kitty litter is and i checked this morning to see if he crapped on the carpet...and he didnt he used his litter...

Thanks for the reply

Urinating outside the litterbox can be a sign of a urinary tract infection. Please take this cat to the vet.

Your cat is obviously under stress due to all the changes and the fact that he is not even well. Smacking him (hard or not) made it worse!

I agree with everyone that he should be seen by a vet ASAP. He's obviously not well and stressed out by it and by the move as well.
