How far along is she? Do you know exact days? You can try calling the vet and just asking over the phone.

I would try to call the vet, on saturday mornings they should be in, and you could ask basic questions...If milking is your main concern as far as proof she should have had them by now..Dont always go on that, I had gotten a kitten alittle while before I took a stray in...Who was pregnant..And my kitten tried and was successful to nurse off of her, This was probably a week or 2 before she had him(her 1 kitten).

I thought the same as you, that it was time. I even started thinking I was crazy and that she wasnt pregnant, then it happened when you least expect it..

I ended up giving my kitten to my brother, so that I could keep squiggles and her baby..

We go visit him, and he is growing up, and getting fixed shortly...for all of you that wondered what I ever did with him..

But try not to worry unless you see danger signs, I think a call to the vet would be ok, but I dont see rushing her in there yet.

I just PM'd you, but I forgot to mention, that I have had a queen that got her milk in about 5 days before delivery, I wouldn't begin worrying yet, it sounds like it is getting close. Did the vet say how far along the kittens looked in xray or ultrasound? All of my Momma's have always delivered on either day 65 or 66.

Call a local rescue group. You can find listings of them at the petsmart website.

I did that when Deja Vu came here and had kittens a week later. They not only helped me with some vet expenses, they will also help you get the kittens really good homes once they are ready, and can help you with problems, questions, etc too.

Good luck with them!

Welcome to TCS....if your cat isn't indoors only...now will be the time to confine her indoors until she has had her kittens and has been spayed. I noticed you had listed a concern about vet costs....if you need a low cost clinic for when it is the time for mom to be spayed, simply send me a PM and I can send you a list of low cost clinics.

Given how many kittens she may end up having...you may want to ask a local rescue group if they can help you to place the kittens. Good Luck

Katie

Yay, the temperature is dropping, so labor is impending very soon!! I use photobucket to place pictures up, if you have any trouble, you can email me and I would be happy to place them up for you.
Keep us updated, don't worry, she is getting very close. Keep the other pets and kids away, and if you can put her in your bedroom, in a quiet area, and just check in on her, unless she wants you there.
I can't wait to see pictures!!

You will find that opinions about food vary greatly here, but I am happy to tell you what I feed my pregnant girl ...

There is a dish of Maxximum Nutrition Dry Kitten Food down at all time for her to free-feed.

I give her 2 pouches of Nutro Natural Choice moist kitten food per day. She normally only licks off all of the "gravy" and leaves the chunks. *grin*

Once per day, she gets about a quarter of a cup of boiled boneless, skinless breast of chicken, pureed in the food processor with a little goat's milk to make a sort of paste.

No matter what you do, she will probably have them while you sleep, LOL!

But seriously, I don't think the temp thing would hurt, but all it will tell you is her temperature. (As Gaye says, *grin*) Is she looking around like she wants to make a nest other than the one you made for her? Unless she seems ill, you just have to wait until the babies arrive. Sometimes the mom will get confused and try to have them in her litter box, so watch her at the box if you can.

Also, ANY kitten food is best. I didn't know much, and fed my cat Purina kitten food, which is better than nothing. If you feed her 9Lives, make sure it's kitten food. It would be better to feed her something that has the first ingredient on the label as something that is a protein. They have Iams at the supermarket. Let us know what happens!

My cat Holly was driving me mad had milk one week before delivery and was large too , she ended up going into labor while I had 30 people in my house having a birthday party(When I totally was NOT ready) I only knew Holly was in labor when she bleed all over the place, like 20 big drops. Baby YES one baby and she was large, came 5 hours after she bleed. It is frustrating hang in there....oh and I felt heaps of kicks and wiggles 3 weeks before she delivered, goodluck

You have a digital camera? If so, you download the pictures onto a website taht will host them...I use imagestation.com. Then, you can copy them and paste them here, or you can copy the web address here so that we can go there and look at them. (i am not a techie kind of person, maybe someone else can esplain it better, lol)

Well, it really isn't going to tell you when the kittens will arrive and it may just irritate your Momma girl. I would just relax, snuggle in with a good book and a cup of your favorite beverage and wait it out.
