TWO!! I just went in and heard exuberant mewing and one had just emerged. I moved him/her to her belly (she looked at me cautiously, but not angry or stressed) and s/he just latched on and started to eat next to the first one that was already there and chowing down!!!

three now! What is so impressive is how they just know what they are doing the third one I helped out just pushed his/her way up to the nipples and started eating! The mom is being such a trooper.. she is being really mellow about me being there. I am leaving her alone most of the time to reduce the stress, I am just going in every 20 min just to make sure she doesnt need any help.

yes, she is feral and this is as close as i have ever been to her. I was wondering if I should limit my touching of the kittens or anythign like that. she has not had another one in over 40 min so I am thinking she might be done. I was also wondering if I should put some KMR out for the mom. She loves it, and I want to make sure she stays hydrated and strong, but I wasnto sure how much food she would want now..

little 4 has arrived and seems a little less robust. I tried to get him started but I am having a hard time with trying to avoid stressing the mom. I am putting in a rice heater to help with the temp, but i am a little worrried about 4. oh well, I guess you cant save them all....

there is some. i gave him/her a vigorous rub got him making some noise and tried to get him onto eating. I cannot tell how it will turn out, but he is in the middle range of the weights, so he is not undersized (right now they are 104g, 96 g, 94g, and 87 g). I have a rice heater in there, a heat lamp, and another heater temp is approx 77 degrees and going up.
one Q: when should i be concerned that kit #4 is not eating? how long should I wait?

just checked on them. all seem to be wiggly and robust (even #4)! mom has had her KMR and a can of wet food and is now getting slighting growly at me. So I think I am going to leave them be for a while. I am pretty sure every one is eating, so I think I can safely leave her be with them for a few hours and then see if I can grab and weigh them tomorow.

well, easter morning all all my little jelly beans are fat and happy! It truely is an amazing thing. Mom has eaten TWO cans of wet food since giving birth, and two plates of KMR. So she is recovering as well. I am going to try to get some pics later of them to post, though I am trying to be as unobtrusive as possible with her and the kits.

What are your plans for the momma and kittens? If you are going to rehome the kittens, they should be handled or they will be afraid of the mom. If she's getting growly, you could just go in there and read aloud and get her used to your presence. Plus you're feeding her - I think that helps a lot!

my plans are to find homes for the kittens and to *try* and rehab the mom. She is definately feral but on a scale of 1 to 10 (where 1 is a housecat, and 10 would scratch your eyes out) she is about a 6. She is not super comfortable, but she is getting better. I have been reading to her and that for a week or so now, and I will continue to do so until we find homes for the kittens. I have already started to handle the kittens, and she is ok with that for a short time. So we will work within her tolerance limits.
My big Q is when should I get her spayed? Should I wait til the kits are weaned? In any case, there is a pic posted of her under the thread "lily and kits".
