As some of you know Kiara was expecting. My daughter and I have both been ill, so I haven't had a chance to post.
Kiara delivered 4 healthy babies on Sunday, March 26th. 3 boys and 1 girl. Color has begun showing up and we have 2 seal bicolor boys, 1 blue bicolor boy, and 1 blue bicolor female.
The first kitten was difficult for her to deliver, it was breech and got stuck in the birth canal, just a tail and foot out. I was able to assist her, and the baby was delivered healthy, and the other 3 were delivered healthy with no problems.
As of yesterday, day 4 for the babies, they had all doubled their weight, and doing wonderful.
Now to the real reason for my post.
I woke up this morning and Kiara seemed fine, I went to give her love, and she was really warm. I figured it was from having the babies nursing. She came out of her nest, for more love, and I felt her ears, and they were also very warm. My husband and I decided to take her temperature just to make sure, and she has 103.5. We have called the vet an hour ago, and he is busy, and is suppose to call back soon.
I thought I would post and get any feedback. From what I have read 103.5, is high, but can just signal stress, and that some vets may not see cause for concern until the temperature reaches 104. The kittens are all active, I have not taken a temperature, but they do feel a little warm to the touch.
They are eating and sucking very well. There have been no sneezes or any type of eye or nose discharge from Kiara or her babies.
Can anyone give me assurance while I sit and wait the anticipation of the vets call?
Thanks!!

Since it seems you had a pretty good delivery ..I am assuming you saw the placenta's be passed??
Thats the only concern I would see arising...And it doesnt seem like there are more kittens?

Just thoughts I had..
Congrats on the babies!!

Thank you. The vet called, she goes in at 2pm.
She did deliver the placenta with each kitten, I marked it down with each kitten.
I also palpitated her stomach after the fourth kitten, and there was no sign of any other kittens. She has been eating well, and has solid stool.
She has vomitted twice this morning also, which I have told the vet.

She is still seeming alert, but I am a worry wart, and will be glad to see 2pm get here.
I will let you know what I find out, and once we are settled back home again, I will post pictures of our adorable babies!!

I spoke too soon about the solid stool.
She now has diarrhea. I just checked, and she isn't dehydrated.

Well let us know, try not to worry, I know thats hard to do...
And your taking her to the vet, which is wonderful in itself, so she will get whatever help she might need..
I was gonna ask about the stool, since that was my problem with squiggles..She had no stool for days, and I hadnt even noticed because I was too busy looking for other kittens..In denial that there couldnt be just 1..
But good luck, cant wait to see the pics

Thanks Gaye!!
I know her stool was solid as of yesterday, so sometime between then and now, she has developed the vomitting and diarrhea. Her kittens are 5 days old today, and thriving.
This is her first litter, so this just may be stress playing a role, but I will know more after the vet visit.

Well, her fever was down to 102.8 when she got to the vet. He palipitated and said there was no kittens left in there. He doesn't really know what she has, she has no symptoms other than mild fever. I was a little worried about mastitis, and he said that her teats felt just fine.
He gave us a broad spectrum antibiotic to cover any infection.
He said her and her babies all looked great!!
I know, I know, I worry a little too much, but their my babies!!

Thank you, Celestial, for your kind words!!
I will try and get some pictures uploaded on here!!

So, as far as the vet can see and tell they are ok? YEA!!!!
Is the over worried gramma doing ok now? I'm so glad that babies, momma, and gramma are all doing good

Oh, you said that the kittens had felt warm, did they have a mild fever at all? will the antibiotic pass on to the babies? Will it take care of any thing if by chance they had a slight infection? Well let's just hope that she doesn't need the antibiotic and it's just a precautionary thing. Take care of those beautiful babies

Kiara is doing very well tonight. I forgot to mention that when the vet called back, he suggested a fever reducer. It is suppose to help for 36 hours, and it had done great, at keeping the fever down.
I haven't checked her temperature anymore, I only did once with thermometer. I don't want to stress her out any more, and just by petting her, I can tell that if she does still have fever, it is very mild.
The vet said she wasn't dehydrated, but did go ahead and give her sub-q, to lower her temperature.
She is eating, drinking, and just by looking at her seems to be doing much better.
He really thought that most likely she was just stressed, as other than the mild fever when we got to the vet, she has no other symptoms other than the gastrointestinal problems, which she hasn't had since before the vet appointment. We may have jumped the gun a little taking her to the vet, but fever shortly after delivery had us worried. It makes me feel better, and puts my mind at ease.

The kittens were looked over, and he felt that they were doing fine.
I am going to keep an eye on her, but I think she is doing well.
