Oh my! I almost forgot to tell you guys!
My roomate from university called me this week and she's getting married!!!!!!! I'm the maid of honour (and only memember of the wedding party I might add!). I'm so excited for her AND for me!
I asked her what my duties would be and she said "get me drunk and make sure that I roll out of bed the next morning". Consider it done! hehe.
Now...any ideas for a wedding present? I have to do a shower present too...right? what other stuff should I know about???

Congratulations!
That is such an honor that she asked you (and only you!)
I'm going to be Matron of Honor (my wedding is 2 weeks before hers) for my best friend. She has 4 other bridesmaids and planning a shower with them has been a NIGHTMARE. Consider yourself lucky that you're the only girl in the bridal party
. As for a gift, you can either get her a nice item from her registry that you know she really wants OR you can give a more sentimental gift to the bride and groom.

Congrats!!

I myself am getting married in September..and my handy dandy wedding etiquette book says that these are the responsiblilites of the maid of honour

-Helps the bride address envelopes, record wedding gifts, shopping, & other important pre-wedding tasks
-Arranges bridal shower
-Helps the bride dress for ceremony
-Helps the bride arrange her veil & train @ the alter
-Holds the groom's ring
-Holds the brides boquet at the alter
-Signs the wedding certificate
-Stands in the receiving line

Lots of work, but I'm sure you will have a blast!!

Actually that's not too much work at all, considering that she's only inviting 25 people overall
Sounds like she'll want me in blue or purple and wants to go dress shopping together (of course!). I think I may have to make a special trip down where she lives for a week or two so we can do all kinds of girly stuff.

As far as gifts go, I think its the maid of honour's job to buy a negligee for a shower gift.
