I posted twice before, once not too long ago (the thread a new lump), about my cat who has cancer.

I have a question for anyone who has also had a cat with cancer. The last couple of days I have noticed that my cats urine has an unusually strong smell, do you think this is related to his cancer and his decline? He is still behaving normally, eating just fine and all that. His tumor is growing at an alarming rate though.

Have you found out what type of cancer he has?

Sometimes depending on where the cancer is cats can have difficulty urinating and this could cause his urine to smell strong if it's being held in for long periods of time but it's always best to keep your veterinarian updated on his changes especially if he has cancer.

I am still waiting on the final results as to what kind of cancer it is. They had thought it was a type of leukemia but it turned out that it wasn't. They had no idea what kind of cancer it was so they had to send samples away to a specialist. The results should be coming back any day. I don't think he's holding it in longer than usual, in fact i think he is going more often... which made me think the worst and think maybe it was diabetes... but I was reading about that and the symptoms for that doesn't sound right for my cat. I could be panicking over every little thing. I've been paranoid about his health lately.

When they have cancer, sometimes it can effect several organs depending on the type. The first thought I would have is dehydration. I would check his gums, push a little and they should go pink right away. You can also pinch the skin at the base of the neck and if it sticks a little, he's dehydrated. If this is the case, I would get him to the vet right away but if you can't you can give him some pedialite with a syringe.

I gave that a try and his skin looks good and his neck seems normal. I do see him drinking regularly too. He likes to drink when I go into the bathroom.
