except I saw him do it. Rambo climbed a chain link fence yesterday evening and made it over the top and into the neighbours yard

Once i finally got over my shock....I tore off after him and managed to climb the fence and retrieve him. So much for a safely confined area in my backyard...

Anyone elses cats get places or do things you can't believe?

My dearest kitty growing up figured out how to climb an 8-foot wooden privacy fence- without front claws! I'm pretty sure my face echoed the look you had. After that episode, he could only go out there with a chaperone!
They are certainly very determined when they get their mind set on something; must be that insurance policy of multiple lives!

My Indy used to walk along the top of the chain link fence, it was a curved, smooth, metal bar. I never knew how she managed to keep her balance with no grip, but she was good at aerial stunts. It was only a 4 ft fence, meant more for marking property lines than anything so she would leap from the ground up and land and walk along the whole 40-50 ft length.

If only they realized that they give their meowmies heart attacks when they do stuff like that!!! I'm gonna have to figure out some solution to this since they love to roam the backyard so much....

Thanks for the link

Edith - picture that chain link top 'pipe' covered with ice, 15' off the ground, and our cat (years ago) traipsing along it like a plank. Scared the wits out of us!

Our neighbor's outside cat climbs/jumps over the fence into our yard, a lot. Gus is a cool cat...I'm not surprised at all.

hehe.. Carl probably would figure it out too, given enough time. I've seen him try to climb shelves in the pantry like a ladder!

Curiosity and determination are a dangerous mix...
