Our one year old girl eats every single thing she can find on the floor..and she also licks everything too!

We already almost lost her because she ate some flowers and got really sick, and we are really worried that she might eat something or lick something else that will harm her again.

Any suggestions to make her stop doing this? She literally will chew up a little piece of paper and swallow it..like it tastes good or something

One of my cats likes to eat plants. The solution has been not to have anything that he could get sick from. I did have a nice cactus that I made sure was not on the harmful to cats list, and he occassionally was nibbling at it. I have tried spraying it with a stay off spray, and he is leaving it alone for now. I have another cat who has gone through a stage where everything must be bit. Not much I could do about that one, either. I did draw the line when he decided to chew on the shredder's electric cord while I was using it- don't want any fried kitties on my watch. I would leave anything small laying around. That might be hard if you have kids. I can't imagine paper would cause a huge problem- mine have all shredded it from time to time.

I would consult with your vet- it may be that kitty either has a behavioural problem, or kitty is missing a certain nutrient and is seeking it out by eating other stuff.

thanks for your reply zak&rocky..its nice to know other cats do this as well and my cat isn't some freak or something.

I will talk to the vet next time I'm there!

thanks again

P.S. If anyone knows how to discourage this..other than the stay off spray as I can't really spray the entire apartment with it
please let me know.

My Rambo is exactly like yours...he eats everything and anything (including all the yarn hair off an old doll i had!). I haven't figured out how to dissuade him from that. I have no plants at home, and I try to keep everything behind closed doors if possible. If you come up with any solutions I would LOVE to hear it!
