They just liked Heidi, and Lynn seemed to go with it. It was "the" middle name of my generation apparently - I know so many people my age with that middle name.

They called me Charlie in utero, since in 1972 it was gender neutral (remember the perfume Charlie?). They had called my sister Happy before she was born, and she was anything but happy as a baby, so they went with something more neutral with me.

I was supposed to be Heidi or Patricia. They finally decided on Patricia. My parents have cards to "Helen, Buddy and baby Patricia".

However, when I was born, my mother looked at me and said, "Oh no, you're a Susan." She said she didn't know why, that was just what she felt.

I think my mom was a bit high on painkillers when she picked my names lol and then she gave me a boy nickname

Full names: Jacoba Cornelia Louisa
Nickname: Jakkie (short for Jacques generally)

Oh and to top it off my name is not pronounced Jacky but more like Yucky...so now I rather tell people I meet that my name is Jacky
And this is why our little boy only has one name.

its a tradition in my dads family to name the first born daughter after the granmother if she is dead... so there are 4 of us with the same name. no middle name just different date of birth!!!!!!!!!

edit: Sorry there are actually 6 of us, but one of them uses her middle name, and the other has her dads surname

My name is Sarah and my parents initially wanted it to be spelt without the 'h'

They just liked the name and wanted a name that couldn't be shortened - funnily enough, my sister was the first to shorten it to Sar!

I think my mom picked "Alaynna" out of a baby book because it was different...I don't think she had any other meaning to it

Now for my brother, Corey, she named him after Corey Haim and Corey Feldman....lol

I was a twin, and my parents had picked out Holly and Noel, because of my December birthday. When my twin died at birth, they named me after a crazy old aunt that the whole family hated. I have yet to figure that one out.

I was named Adrienne after a Canadian female journalist who was also recently Canada's Governer General (Adrienne Clarkson). My parent's didn't have a girl's name picked out as they were anticipating a boy. I was supposed to be Michael. When I ended up being a girl, my mom decided to name me after a strong Canadian female role model.

My mom was so sure I was a boy. She really liked the name Nathaniel. So she was a little surprised when she ended up with a girl. So she chose the feminine form of the name - Natalie. Lynn was a popular middle name at the time as many people I know have it

I was named Jennifer (go by Jenney though) because it was the most popular name at the time.
My mom said they were considering Linda also but liked Jennifer better. Somedays I wish they had stuck with Linda...then that way I would be one less head turned when someone says "Hey Jenney!"

Mom said she first thought of Karen-Karen and Sharon icky rhyming twin names!!! But my dad had a cousin named Karen and didn't want it!!

My parents wanted a name that couldn't be shortened as they had names that people would shorten. So I've spent my life having to convince people it wasn't short for something else! One teacher took weeks before accepting my name wasn't officially Jane, Janet, or Janice. My middle name is Adriann to honor my dad and his father. It's a feminine version of their middle name Adrian. However, mom wanted an "e" on the end and dad said it would make it too long. Dad won this argument.

Had I been born with a Y chromosome, I'd been named Bryan - which is what one of my cousins named his oldest!

My Mom was almost named for two of her mom's siblings - Harvey and Pearl!
Luckily grandma was out of it and grandpa named her.

I was named after a doll my mom got as a kid. Mom showed me Natalie doll when I was 5. The thing scared me so much I cried & screamed. I am still crying... To this day Natalie doll scares the daylights out of me.

Soooo....I tell people I got named after Natalie Wood!
