NOW my back button has turned into a C button and I cannot go back to the last page.

Can anyone help me make it go back to the correct <- button or tell me a shortcut that will do the same?

I love my Mac but I am getting very frustrated!

I use Safari. At the tip right under the blue apple sign there is a square that USED to have an arrow in it that pointed to the left - like this <- NOW however it is in the shape of a C and if I click on it it takes me only refreshes the page I am looking at. I have no way to go back to a pevious page!

Go to 'View' and then 'Customize Address Bar'. You can drag the arrows and a few other things that you like in.

Or, under view, make sure the Back/Forward has an arrow checked next to it.
You may have accidentaly unchecked it so that the refresh button becomes the left most button.
Hope this helps!

You can also use the Apple button and the bracket button next to "P" to go back and Apple (command) and the second bracket button to go forward.

The Apple (command) and the + makes the print larger, just keep hitting it. That's a good one when you don't have your glasses.
