Have you seen restaurants/stores with really strange names? In NH there was one called Roadkill Cafe (served game food). Now thats one I would have eaten at actually as I love game! But nonetheless an interesting name.

The one that takes the cake for strange from what I've seen is out on the outer banks of NC theres a restaurant called Dirty Dicks Crab House.

In the eastern part of NH, not quite as strange, but real popular with all the local people was the Poor Peoples Pub. Now that one was the central restaurant of the town and everyone went there. My uncle gave me a sweat shirt from them every year when I was little.

There was tackle/convenience store over there that had a really strange name but can't remember it...

I have eaten at both the Poor People's Pub, and the RoadKill Cafe!
I didn't have any game meat though. RoadKill Cafe closed. I bought a shotglass from there. They also have the "Muddy Moose" up there now. There is one in the Boston Area called "Fudruckers" I just always thought that was funny.

Oh yes I think we have a Fudruckers here too and it is a great name
. I haven't eaten there. Well if you've eaten at Poor People's Pub then do you know of the lake right there called Lovell lake? My family when they first came to America owned half of the lake way back when and about 10 years ago we sold the last piece that was left of the original deed (though the family still lives on and around the lake its not from the original land grant, having not moved for generations until my father and his sister left).

I heard the Roadkill Cafe closed! That is to bad because I would have loved that place. We had a place in Raleigh that was an Irish pub (actual torn down in Ireland and transported here, pretty wierd). Anyway it was called Fox & Hound (not strange :p) and sold game food but wouldn't you know? After being a big business for many years in the area it closed before I could go in there for a game meal ugh! Then one opened in N. Raleigh and they don't serve game!!! Errrrr. I will never get to eat venison again as the only family I have that hunts is still up in NH.

Next year if one of the boys gets a deer I can send you some of the meat. We eat it a little but I am not a big fan of it. i like it made into Jerky.

Ooh venison is just so good! My mom had a fit though when my uncle sent home some meat with me. My mom went to pull it out of the freezer to make and my uncle had written "Bambi" on it. It was kind of funny to see her reaction

There was a local burger joint call "Joe's Back Seat".
In Lansing there use to be an Italian restaraunt called "Emils" I always thought it was strange, since it was "Slime" spelled backwards.

If you go out by Route 66 in AZ and NM, there are strings of strangely named restaurants. I can't remember any of them right now though.
There's a place here called Taco Tonto's which means stupid's taco.

That reminds me of something. My mom used to watch the children of this Spanish/Mexican couple (can't remember hwere they were from). Anyway my mom was playing with them and decided their little action figure should be called Tonto (not knowing what it meant). Anyway the parents got a kick out of this but didn't say anything to my mom. I told her later what it meant

My hometown has a strange group of bars that are operating in old premises with some other original purpose and are named and decorated after that original business. Hence: The School, The Old Bank, The Drugstore, The Kindergarten and even The Woodmarket Latrine.

That reminds me of Tio Juans in Concord, NH. Its not the name that reminds me, but it is actually an old jailhouse converted to a restaurant. Their mexican isn't all that great, but its fun to go eat in the jail cells
. Its supposed to be haunted too.
