New kitty has been drinking her water so fast that it makes her throw up a little. I'm not sure why this is, but she's always fine right after, and slows down.
Nismo does the same thing. Well not so much anymore but she used to. I put it down to her being so active, she gets thirsty and just can't get enough of the water.
She drinks from the tap in my kitchen most of the time so what I do is stand by her, turn it on, let her get a bit then turn it off for a few seconds while she takes in what she has in her mouth, then I turn it on again.
If your kitty drinks from the bowl, I don't really have an answer except possibly sitting by her while she drinks, and distracting her for a second once she's had a little drink so that she can let it go down?
I hope she grows out of it
I know that with cats who eat dry food too fast you can put it in a coffee mug so they have to fish it out with their paw and then eat it a couple pieces at a time.
I'm not sure how you could apply this idea to water though...
If you want to let the cat drink from the tap I think Pombina's idea is good.
