What is your favorite/most often used way to pay for things? We took a poll here and it was split.....half creditcard/half check. (of course there are only 4 of us here today)

Cash! And NO I'm not rich
Far from it. I just budget! Yes it's really hard but I live

I do have one credit card just in case, but I almost never use it. The bill is usually around $50 a month. Never been in debt, never plan to be.
I also use checks, but pay in cash whenever I can.

I usually pay by Debit Card. I love it, cuz the transactions usually go thru right away and I check my online checking account daily and make sure that everything balances.

Sometimes, like the day before I get paid, if I need to float the check for a day or 2 til I get paid, I write a check
That way I know it wont get to the bank til I get money in my account!

I use a credit card because its convenient. Actually we do very little cash at all because of this. We pay our balance in full every month and the credit card pays me about $75+ a year in gift certificates for using their card. Win-win I guess
. Not for everyone though.

I use my Visa check card everywhere. I am one of those people who will go into the gas station for a coffee and a paper and put it on my debit card
I never have cash and everyone accepts cards now, even McDonalds.

According to my husband... the zoo
I voted for checks even though I actually like using my debit card.

But don't like the debit card as far as trying to keep track of the receipts until I deduct them from my check register... SO I have gone back to making myself write checks for most everything.

If I'm purchasing something expensive... then I use a credit card, that way I have protection.

We seldom use cash. Most the time it is check or debit card.
I just have never been one to like to carry cash around I guess.

Most of the time cash, debit card if I didn't go to the bank. It's easier to budget using cash.

I always pay by interac...the only reason I carry cash at all is because my favourite cafe (Tim Horton's) only deals with cash

I use cash for smaller purchases and usually for groceries, which is the bulk of my shopping. I use credit card for most purchases over $40 or $50, but NEVER use my credit card unless I know I'm going to be able to pay the bill in full at the end of the month. (Well, I did once about 20 years ago, paying a large purchase off over three months.) But I use checks to pay for service at the garage, my attorney, my accountant, my dentist, at the vets, etc. What it boils down to is this: If I'm shopping at Wal-Marts or some other corporation, I don't mind using a credit card. But for the small independent business person or professional, I try to avoid credit cards, which cost them more money.

I've even paid IN FULL for every car purchased since about 1965 with a check. (I guess that's why I'm still driving a 1992 vehicle. Since I've been retired, it is a lot harder to save up for a new one!) But it does give a lot of peace of mind not to have bills.
