Ok I have a few questions. I am pretty sure either Jason or Brandon will be able to help me but I know there are a few of us ladies out there that know quite a bit about cars.

So Sunday was the big day and we bought the 1992 Honda Prelude. Lee is already shopping for after market performance parts. He just told me he wants to put cold air intake on it.
What does that do for it?

IMO nothing!
I have a teenage son who just had to have one. The only thing I could tell that it did was make the car use more gas. My husband said this " it makes the car run richer"
I think they just like the sound of saying, " cold air intake" It's a guy thing!

Brings down the temp of the air going into the car, which increases the volume of air and boosts the power output of the engine.

They also make the engine sound cool.

That is what Lee said!
When I asked him how much its going to cost he said thats not important..that mean more than we have to spend!

16 more horse power and 20 more foot pounds of torque.... this leads to my next question! What is foot pounds of torque?

My personal opinion though is that unless the vehicle works for a living (performance, racing, work truck), this is an un-needed upgrade.

Super late response! You'll be fine with the intake on there... everyone else pretty much covered it, colder air = denser air, more air in the combustion chamber + more gas = more power! You can never have too much power
Just make sure you're actually routing it so that it acutally catches cold air... many people stick a cone filter on the stock piping and call it good. Engine bays are hot and therefore engine bay air is hot!

I imagine so, but this is one of those things that has "guy thing" written ALL over it. (No offense, guys.)
