I wish I could have kept him, but very personal reasons kept me from being able to. I think about him constantly, and find mydelf full of regret. There'll never be another cat like him. There was just something awesome about his personality and how he found himself in my care. I miss him so very much.

The cats house, we just pay the mortgage..
I really feel for you, it must be awful if you get attached to a cat then give it up. Just remember that you did foster him. You got him out of whatever situation he was in, looked after him and then let him go to a better place.
If he was a special cat then you've given someone else the joy that he is going to bring to their life.
Now that he is gone it means someone else can have his little place in your home. Someone that needs you.

I am definately not looking forward to the day when I have to give Damita & Chico up to new homes. I told myslef that I have to follow the advice I saw on TCS. Give them up & another will find you & need your help. There are always more cats out there that need fostering.

I hope that you another cat will find you that will need fostering. Just think of how you impacted your fosters life. He is now better off because you cared for him so much. I think that cats we foster never forget us & love us forever for it.

Beautifully said, Pombina!
Is there anyway that you can check up on the cat & see how he's doing? And who knows? Maybe someday he will be able to return to you! I pray that you both have very happy futures in store for you, together or not!

I know exactly how you feel! One of my feral kittens from two years ago really crawled into my heart. I found him a great home with a co-worker, but I cried like a baby when he left. I could not get him out of my mind. Then one day my co-worker told me, with tears in her eyes, how the night before that kitten had saved her and her husband's lives...he kept throwing himself against their bedroom door to wake them up when a fire had started in their chimney! The fire chief told them that as thick as the smoke was, that the fire was about to fully break out, and they would have been overcome by the smoke & died in that fire.

Since that day, even though I miss him, I don't have one moments regret about giving him up. He went where he was supposed to.

I understand this feeling so well! I work with a rescuse organization and my laundry room is often a temporary home for kitties soon to go up for adoption.

I had this one litter of particularly beautiful and charming kittens for a few weeks. Months after they were gone I found pictures of them on my computer and actually cried over them. I'm such a softy.
