Is she about to deliver?

My cat was bred from January 20th-27th which would leave her in the expected delivery time. She really hasn't nested much but we have left her in the bathroom at night and there is a nice little "room" with blankets in there so maybe she has already found a place. Today if I mess with her nipples she has some clear liquid come out of them. She started vigourosly cleaning herself a couple days ago. She doesn't seem very distressed or uncomfortable at all. The other thing is she quit eating for the past day or so, which i know is normal, but she just had a meal a few minutes ago. When should I expect her delivery? Possibly tonight? Any comments would be appreciated!

"was bred"? Did you do this on purpose?

Sounds like your taking good care of Momma! Make sure to get her spayed soon! I'm not sure about if she's about to deliver. Read through a few of the other posts here and I bet you'll find answers to questions you hadn't even thought of!

LOL no I didn't plan on them, just totally forgot about getting them fixed and by the time I could get the boy in it took a week. Trust me we plan on a trip to the vet as soon as the kittens are weaned! The only reason I know the date I got the boy fixed was it was the day I picked up my new car.

* Twelve to forty-eight hours before the onset of labor your cat will seem more anxious and restless. She will often begin looking for a place to nest and have the litter. Cats that are about to go into labor will usually lick their abdomen and vagina persistently.
* There is often a discharge that precedes birthing but the mother may lick it away before you see it.
* You may notice that she stops eating, although some cats will eat throughout the entire process.
* You may see her breathing become more rapid. In some cases the mother will sit with her mouth open and yowl loudly or pace.
* As her labor progresses and uterine contractions begin she will lay on her side and frequently squat and press downward to push the kittens out.

From the article on the main pages of TCS. It also says that if you take her temperature (cats do not like things in their butt, though) and its below 100 to make with the towels and now. Hopefully you've found helpful things in the other threads!

LOL, and i wouldn't try the temperature thing unless there was no other choice and your cat was very, very docile...LOL, no fun at all. They certainly do not appreciate that surprise...(can't imagine I would like a surprise like that either)

Tullah was just laying around so I tried the temp again and she actually let me on the first try. Her temp is 99.5. Is this ok?

From everything I am reading, when the rectal temp drops below 100...you are definitely getting close.

If you would like to know more precisely when delivery is near, check the rectal temperature of the mother twice daily from the 58th day of pregnancy until labor begins. Normal rectal temperature varies between 100.5 and 102.0 degrees Fahrenheit. Within approximately 24 hours of the onset of labor the rectal temperature drops nearly two degrees in most cats.
how exciting, I can't wait to hear the good news!

How is she acting today? Has she been digging around in her nest at all? Has she wanted to eat? Is she moving around any? Have you been able to feel any small tremors or little contractions? Is there any discharge around her bottom or is she grooming overly in that area?

She still isn't anything overly odd. She took a while to get comfortable when she laid down, and just lays but won't put her head down. She will go and look at her food, like she wants it, but won't eat any. I don't know if she was digging in her nest, but I was gone all day and she was in the bathroom (She has food, water, a litterbox, and a special place to nest, all spread out). When I went to allow her to leave she was a little hesitant but without any urging in a few minutes she got up and came in the living room. I am starting to get a little worried about her. I can feel the baggyness under her nipples that just started yesterday. She isn't uncomfortable or anything but should I worry about her?

LOL, this reminds me of the saying "A watched pot never boils". I would not get overly concerned yet. From your guesstimation, she is between day 59 (earliest) and 66 (latest possible day)...

Since, the ''normal gestation period for cats is between 63 to 65 days, give or take a few days on either side,''...she is definitely close, but there is no reason to believe that she is way overdue. If she became pregnant on the latter end of your timeframe, she still could have a few days before having them and be right on time.

Unless she is having discharge that seems abnormal or experiencing cntractions and not getting anywhere with them...or acting distressed, I would just try to be patient and keep her comfortable.

She will have them soon, you'll see. Good luck!

Sounds like she is showing some of the signs but I have no idea when she would have them so just umm listen to them

But I just wanted to wish your cat a safe & healthy delivery, and I hope they come soon!

Please keep us updated too on how she's behaving or - if she has her kitties!

I know the waiting is VERY hard.
Because you're afraid you might be asleep or away when she delivers... right?!

Afraid of that for sure I watched her be born and it was sooo neat. But I am also afraid I will take my eye off of her to long and she will have her water break on the carpet. I don't want to lock her in the bathroom while I am home!

You might want to have a pillow and blanket handy for you, too!
My cat (long since fixed, by the way) wanted me to sit in the closet with her for all 3 of her litters,(if I left her, even to go take a "powder" break, she chased me down and told me in no uncertain terms to get back in there!
), all night long and coo to her that everything was okay! Luckily, my 1/2 Ragdoll (who only had one kitten in her only litter!) wanted my husband to sit with her
She actually came to the window and hollered for us to come inside! "It's time! It's time!"
Good luck with your blessed event!
