Yesterday my mom brought over her very mellow australian shepherd- minature for the second time. She brought along his food, which is eukanuba i/d. (she says) Zakk was eating his food! Not too much, but he had a bit. Should I be worried, or is it basically just going to be a little change in diet for him?
She was more concerned about him eating the cat food- I guess he is very prone to stomach upsets and he was trying to eat their food!
I know this probably belongs in behavior, but I think the cats remembered the dog from last time! Last time they were growling at him, and were kinda afraid. This time they just kept a careful eye on him.

I was told that dogs are more affected by eating cat food than cats eating dog food. It has to do with the protein. Cat food is too high and may affect the dog's liver. Dog food doesn't have enough proteins for cats.
Zakk was probably curious what the "guest" was eating.

I have gotten this answer from two vets ... but since he ate RX food call the vet in the morning to be sure

Okay, I'll call. He has seemed fine and it's been over 24 hours. Haven't checked the litter box for anything strange yet.

Won't hurt to eat a little bit of the dog food. But dog food doesn't have enough protein in it. Long time eating dog food will cause a cat to be sick.
