WOW! Those flowers are amazing

Our crocus' are just starting to peek their little purple heads up. Give them a week and they shall have bloomed, I bet.
I'm going bonkers waiting for some growth to happen around here. Been waiting all winter to have my garden back, and what does it do? just sits there and says "I'm still sleeping!!!!"

They are called Glory of the snow - here is a link with the scientific name:

Last spring, we were in the same boat as you. I had no idea what they were until I walked into Home Depot and saw them. The peoplewe bought this house from were botanists, so we have some very strange plants. I ended up taking pictures of them as they bloomed and emailed them asking what the different plants were.

Enjoy your new yard!

Everyone's flowers are totally gorgeous. I used the one of the yellow daffodils as my background here on my puter............

Tulips are my favourite flowers, so I've really enjoyed the pics you've posted so far! I know I wouldn't complain if you posted some more!

Okay, okay, you talked me into it! I'll post some more. But surely someone else has some more flower pics, don't they?

Come on, people, help me out here!

...there's tons of gorgeous stuff around town right now, but I'd like you all to help me bid a fond and sad farewell to one of my favourite trees. This tree was not young when I met it over 30 years ago, and, though it still looks good in its pic, up close it is in decline, and will soon be cut down. We said goodbye to its mate a few years ago...

I'm sorry I can't help out YET. Things had just started thawing out nicely around here, crocus's were comming up and everything...It's been snowing pretty constantly since yesterday afternoon. So far about 2 inches has stayed on the ground

Not to fear though! I will be able to have some late-sping pictures to share! That means spring is officially extended!

Fran, does anyone do wood carving in your town? It would be nice if the wood from that tree could go to someone who could make something beautiful out of it.

That's a very good thought, Jeff, and I have passed it along. There's got to be someone in all of Vancouver
I guess the real question is the state of the wood, but those in a position to do the carving would be in the best position to assess that.

It would be lovely if it could live on in such a way.

Jeff, that is the best bunch of tulip pics yet!

Fran, what a beautiful tree. I can understand why you are sad to see it go. A wood carving would be a great idea.

Susie, that pic looks familiar!

Thanks Karen.
I had to dive a bit to find this thread again. Could it be on its way to the happy hunting grounds of threads?
