I really was agonizing over keeping this cat (I told the story in the thread about snowflake), I hate the thought of keeping a cat for selfish reasons if I don't feel I can care for him or her as well as I should. That's one of the reasons I began fostering. Yet there was something so special about this cat, and he seemed to be a perfect ambassador (something I just learned about regarding fostering and socializing ferals last night).

I was hoping for some more and stronger signs, and I got them. Fuzz was raised with 2 other cats, Animal (aka Little Biddy) and Tarzan. Animal passed about 4 years ago at the age of 22, and Tarzan a little less than 2, and I just kept Fuzz alone until he passed last Sept since he liked being No. 1. Well, last night this new cat did somethign that was very unique to Animal, and this morning I woke up to him doing something very unique to Tarzan. I no longer think he is my Fuzz in another kitty, I think he has been sent here for reasons (like helping me with this new socializing foster thing), and for reasons I don't know yet. There is something about him...

The sign that clinched it was that I was talking to someone I knew today about my dilemma, and her opinion was that I really couldn't take the on the responsibility now, and it would cause so many problems. But when she came over and picked him up, she looked at me and said, "You have to keep this cat. Whatever you have to do." She felt the same vibrations, peacefulness, calm and spirituality that I felt when I hold him. She was almost overwhelmed by it, and this is a very practical, level-headed person, and she did not expect to feel that way. She saw the old soul in him as I did, even more apparent today. Like he knew what we were talking about and let us know the answer.

She also said I should give him a spiritual name because being part abyssinian, a cat of the ages, and feeling as spiritual as he did, that would fit him the best. I did some research and didn't find much in terms of spiritual names, but what I did find was a list of Ancient Egyptian names. There were three I especially liked that had what I felt were perfect meanings, and at the same itme sounded good (2 actually cute).

Thought I'd ask for your opinions on which name you liked the best (and why if you care to share).

The ancient egyptian names I narrowed it down to are:

1. Adjo (meaning treasure)
2. Baraka (meaning gift, blessing, and also reminds me of B.A. Barakas and
I love the A-Team); and
3. Bubu (meaning shine or give light -- and lends itself well to "Hey, Bubu,
want to share my pickanick basket? and consedering he's already
taken to stealing food off the counter and pushing his way into
the fridge.... LOL )

I really like all three, think they are perfect cat names, and can't decide. What do you think?

A poll is a great idea. Is there a special place for the polls, or would I post it under Caring for Strays and Ferals?

i'd just do it here. there's a button on the right side of where your first post is that is called thread tools [i think] & one choice on the drop-down menu is 'make this thread a poll' then it'll take you to a new screen where you choose how many choices you want, whether it's a multiple choice or single choice poll, & then after that you enter the choices. it's really neat!

Thank you laureen, the poll is set up. In fact, as soon as I clicked on tools and to set up the poll he jumped up to lay next to me, then turned his head and was watching Columbo.

I've had lots of cats in my life, and never one like this. If he were to turn his head right now and say, "I like this episode," I wouldn't be a bit surprised. LOL

But I think he likes the attention of a poll. He's purring like crazy.

Borrowing a digital this week and I'm gonna post PICTURES.

PS: There was one more name, but I decided to leave it out because it was too difficult to say. It was Top Betuké. And it meant Watermelon Head. LOL Really!

I like Bubu too. I'm so glad you're keeping him. It was meant to be.
