Was on my shift this morning at adoption center run by my local Humane Society and a member walked in with a bundled-up kitten that at best is 4 to 5 days old. He found 2 kittens in a garbage can (one was dead)...both were covered-up with leaves & garbage to be disposed of. UNBELIEVABLE!!

I couldn't help myself...I am now on a 24-hour vigil/watch with this kitten, who, with God's wishes, will then go to a foster home until of age to adopt out.

People...people...people!! My little rant: I have learned that I can't control others behavior but can only control my reaction & action.

Not sure if this should be posted under "ferals/strays" "cats sos" or cats and kitten care".

Will keep you posted throughout the day & night on progress of this little one. God bless this little innocent baby!!

Oh my gosh... How could someone just throw kittens away?!
I so hate to hear stories like this. The part I do like is the part where people like you who really care try so hard to help the poor dears who've been abused and uncared for
God bless you.

I will say a prayer for this poor kitty, that it will be alright and that it will go to a loving home when the time is right.

Oh no! That's so sad...I get so mad when people throw little kittens/puppies/anytypeofbaby away...it's just so inhumane and stupid. How'd they like to get thrown in a dumpster with a bunch of trash?

Thank God and God Bless you for rescuing this one! It's sad his brother died, but...at least you got there in time to save him. I hope all goes well and that he grows into a very healthy cat and goes to a loving home!

I am no longer surprized by the things people do....Leesali.....this is the website of a woman in California who works with orphaned kittens....you may find it useful. Geri is also a great person to email:

Oh, the poor little dear! I hope you are able to save this baby...at least you are giving it a chance to know warmth and a full belly. I hope it is strong enough to flourish under your loving care!

That just makes me so mad
What is wrong with people??? Thankfully for you and the man who found him that now he will probably have a good outlook! We got our Gizmo at 2 1/2 weeks,he was abandoned in some bushes in a parking lot and it was pouring down rain. When we got him home we weren't sure if he was going to make it or not.We started bottle feeding him and ever since then he hasn't stopped eating(LOL),now he is 1 1/2 years old and weighs 20lbs.I believe everything in our life happens for a reason and there was a reason that this little kitten ended up in your hands.Keep us updated!

Thanking all for good advice & good vibes for this little kitten.

I have fostered many a time...have a small
crew of 7 here because of it. I will NOT keep this one though!!
Someone else will take over tomorrow night or Monday the latest to foster throughout the "infant" stage.

This little one has quite the cry when it awakes...a good sign...good strong lungs
Not sure about male/female yet...hard to see anything...so tiny.

Will keep you posted...will be up and about throughout the night.

What a good little baby!! It's amazing how brilliant they are...immediately caught-on to finding the nipple to the bottle and seemed to know that burping was next and stimulating to urinate was thereafter.

Drinking from the bottle like a little piggy this morning
All good!! President of Humane Society called to check-in and this little baby is now called "Miracle".

I find "sexing" a kitten at this young age is hard...not too much going on in that area
Will take a good look next feeding and let you know what I see or don't see
