Lately I've noticed something that Jordan does that really makes me nervous. Take this example: we were both lying on the bed and I moved my foot near his face, just so he could sniff (you know cats like to sniff). He sniffed it, was fine... then I moved my foot a teeny bit and he reached up with his paws, grabbed my foot and visciously bit it.

This is a reoccuring thing... the other day he attacked my hand, jumped off the bed... then jumped back on just as fast to do it again. He doesn't do it to my husband (that's right, I'm married as of a week ago!), just me...

It really makes me nervous to do anything, to sit near him for fear that suddenly I'll accidentally provoke him. Any thoughts? He's perfectly healthy, doing well (has been with us since June or July), mostly getting along with Baylee (sometimes they'll have their hissing and chasing matches)...

CONGRATULATIONS on your wedding!!! My husband and I are coming up on one year in a couple months, so I can remember very well your feeling of Newlywed Bliss...I have it still every day!

As far as your baby, I don't have much advice, unfortunately. Have you tried spraying Feliway around, or using the plug-in it also comes in?

Let us know how he does, ok?

Oh, PS...is he neutered??

Congratulations on your marriage, Ari!
I thought it was around this time, but I forgot the actual date!

Hmmmm, Jordan? He sounds like he's aiming to play - Willow does the hard bites on my feet thing. As they bite, we move, so they think it's a bit of a game! Do you think he could be playing, just a bit rough with it?

When he bites you, do you yelp so that he knows that it hurt you? It might be worth a try. Also, when he does bite you, stay still (easier said than done, I know, but it does work) as he will lose interest in his little game - like getting already dead prey!

I'll keep thinking for you and come back if I get any more ideas!

Thanks for the congrats! And yeah, it was the 14th.

As for Jordan, yes he's been neutered for forever, it feels like, lol! And I've tried yelling when he attacks (it's pretty much instinct) and keeping still... it still doesn't stop him. And I'm not if it's that he's playing... it could be but he looks so determined that it feels more like aggresion. And Feliway is a good idea... I still have the plugin, I should go get a refill and hope that it does something!

I'm pretty sure your cat is just playing. My 9 month old sophia does this all the time and sometimes it really hurts! But if you don't move your hand or foot while she is doing she will stop. But sometimes I go along with her and move my hand or foot all around under the covers and she goes crazy and will play rough like this until I stop moving. I think she really enjoys playing rough like this but yelling at her doesn't help, just don't move and she will get the hint. Well this is my experience anyway! Congrats on your wedding though!

mine have done this, too - unfortunately my instinct is to kick - & since i'm usually half asleep at the time, i can't consciously 'choose' to do something else. on the up side - it seems to stop the problem, altho it's certainly not something i'd recommend. mine usually only do this when i'm in bed & my feet are under the covers - they're hunting the elusive 'toe mice'

Jordan will be a year old in May... so he's 10 months old now? And I guess he could be playing but I don't get why he just does it with me... plus it hurts so much! Sniffle...

Aww...I know how you feel about kitties just getting too excited. Our Hobbes still gets too excited, and he's almost two. Lol...sometimes that excitement hurts.
Hopefully someone will be able to give you better advice than I could. Sorry...

P.S. Adorable signature...and adorable kitties!!

Have you changed anything about your appearence or smell lately? new haircut, hair color, new shampoo or soap, new perfume?
Maybe even a new job (like you work at KFC now or something, sorry that's a little silly). Basically, try to think back to when he first started these attacks and see if there's anything you've changed about yourself or even your routine. Anything that may make it harder for him to tell it's you.

As for detering him, if he likes feather toys, you can try to keep one near you so when he pounces on you, you can immediately distract him. Also try "talking" to him like you are his "mom cat". I make a "pssssss" sound really loud whenever our kitties are being bad (clawing the couch, tormenting eachother or playing too hard with me) and they get that means "knock it off before you're in big trouble!" You can even try scruffing him gently and holding him down for a few seconds after an attack if you feel comfortable he wouldn't just go after you again. In his language, that would be you asserting your "top cat" status and letting him know he can't attack you.

Would you say Jordan is really bonded to you vs your husband? (congrats!)
One of our cats is very bonded to my fiance' and pees on his stuff when she's upset so that he knows she's mad. He could be trying to tell you something.

Or he could just be being a cat! Who knows why they do some of the crazy stuff they do!
