And the girls Myah and Chaka of 9 months have totaly changed. We keep the kitten in an isolation room, But it's no secret that he is in there. Our cats are hiding. When we try and give them attention we are met with hissing and growling. It seem now the two cats don't even trust each other. Will see how day two goes tommorow.

That is how it goes with new cats sometimes. Smells have changed so they are wary of everything. Just give them time, buy some Feliway plug ins and sprays, keep them seperated but switch a towel or two between them so they can smell each others scent. If you can feed them on opposite sides of the door too that would be good. If you can seperate them in a way that there is a screen between them so they can smell and get close but not touch that is a good thing.

You could also put the kitten in a large carrier and sit in the room and let them "see" each other.

And another trick with smells - sprinkle a little cornstarch baby powder (NOT talc) in each of the cat's fur and rub it in - that way they all smell the same and will reduce some of the hissing.

Yesterday went well I guess. Beau is isolated in the computer room and the Mrs. and I take turns looking out for the little feller when he is not sleeping. The resident cats seemed to place blame on each other and hid all day and night in "their" room. They hissed and growled at each other. Today they see the kitten being held by "Mommy" and are somewhat curious. But growl and hiss. The breakthrough here is that they are using the parlor again, the "CatPlay" between the sisters seems agressive and hard but they calmed down and retreated again to their room. Both Chaka and Myah both have met up with Beau at the crack under the door and the results have been the same... A loud hiss followed by bolting back into their room. I can see this is going to take a few days to a week. We let the kitten have the parlor floor for a few minuites at a time while the sisters nap at the other end of the house. If I hold Myah she breaks out into a teeth chattering fit and when I hold Chaka she starts kind of hissing, growling effect. Both of these conditions seemed to have lessened today. Goint to take this slow and easy.

Have them meet at the same level too because some cats have issues with hierarchy and if you bring one cat in up above the other, it might upset the alpha cat in the house, if that makes sense. Hard to explain that one.

Or Pure Vanilla Extract (not imitation)

You're being sure to hold your two that you had before the kitten a lot, too, right? I'm not insinuating you wouldn't, but I just thought I'd ask just in case. Be sure to be giving them LOADS of love and treats, and the special things they love so they know they're still wanted and loved.

We tried to administer hugs to the girls when the ordeal first started and they disallowed it. It seemed that while holding them they were so put out and angry it was almost dangerous. Today they allow hugs a bit more. We thawed out a tube of rabbit for extra treats. They sat and even shared some of their chicken marsala with Angela tonight. Last night I heated them some leftover roast chicken. They're comming around but slowly.
