I was looking through the internet because my kitty's sound like they're sneezing and I came across kennel cough. I really can't tell what my kitten's problems are. Has anyone got any experience in this?

Has your kitty been to a vet?? Sometimes sneezing can be an allergy...sometimes it can be a sign of a Upper Respitory infection....best thing to do is have a vet look her over instead of trying to diagnose it yourself. Sometimes you can even call a clinic and describe the symptoms and they can tell you whether you need to bring the kitty in or not.

Kennel cough in cats or dogs is caused by Bordatella, it can be transmitted from dog to cat, and vice versa. It may or may not be bordatella, so a vet visit will be in order. Kittens also sneeze sometimes, with no explanation other than cats and kittens sometimes sneeze. Is he/she showing any other symptoms now other than sneezing?
If it is Bordatella infection, the vet can easily swab to test for it, and put him or her on the antibiotic that is right. Often times it goes away on its own, if it is indeed bordatella infection.
Good luck.

I would say it is more likely to be a URI or nothing (allergies or something innocuous) Bordetella is characterized by difficult breathing and coughing.

Sneezing can also be associated with dental problems.

Well, I do have a dog but she doesn't cough or sneeze. I read that kennel cough can be from living in too close of space and that they might be cold, so I moved them into a way bigger box with lots of blankets and towels and I have a heater by them now. The kitten's eyes are watery but no gunk. I've moved them away from where the dog is so I will wait and see if anything improves, but if it doesn't then I'll phone the vet. None of my other cats have ever done this before, so its kind of weird.

I haven't had any experience with cats. But my dog when we got her from the pound had Kennel cough which she contracted there. She was very quiet and bloodshot eyes. With alot of discharge from her nose. As for sneezing she never really sneezed it was more of a yack yack mucousy sounding cough.

they were both at the vets last week too..........
So I have a *feeling* they might have it! It isnt deadly is it??

Kennel Cough or Bordatella could have been picked up at the vet's office. Dogs and cats can spread it and catch it easily. It is spread when another dog sneezes or coughs. The best way to keep your dog protected in the bordatella vaccine.
Kennel Cough is not dangerous, but still requires a vet visit for antibiotics, and depending on the severity of the cough, the vet may give a cough suppressant and an anti inflammatory.
Hope your dog is feeling better soon.

Well, I took both kittens into the vet and he didnot say it was kennel cough. He did say, however, that my kittens have an upper respitory infection, but that it is viral and there is no medication for them to take. He said if I clean there nose and eyes with a cue tip, then it will go away, and that he thinks they got it because their nest is too big and they might be having trouble keeping warm. I find that odd because they have their own little space heater. Oh well listen to the doc and get them a smaller place!
